The late 19th century saw significant growth for Defiance Township both economically and socially due to increased immigration from all around America as well as an increase in manufacturing jobs available throughout Northeast Ohio thanks to advancements in technology. Due to this success, many families choseto move away from downtown Cleveland towards newer neighborhoods where they could find more affordable housing stock, more opportunities for education and better job prospects than they would have likely found back home elsewhere within Defiance Township proper or even outside it altogether. Throughout these years there has also been an increasing trend towards gentrification which refers to movements by wealthier individuals or groups towards areas that are already heavily populated by certain demographic groups – typically black or Hispanic – pushing poorer residents out of business districts or neighbourhoods completely while preserving market values for these areas’ original inhabitants thereby creating enclaves where few if any non-white residents remain whatsoever despite heavy economic development going on nearby (see: gentrification theory)). Defiance, Ohio is a small community in Defiance County, Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1814 by the Shawnee Native Americans as an Indian trading post. The post was abandoned in 1838 and destroyed by white settlers. In 1865, the town was reactivated and renamed Defiance. In 1898, Defiance became a county seat of Defiance County.
