The first guns in Kettering, Ohio were pistols. The pistols were made by John Fenton and his son George. The Fentons had a store at the corner of High and Elm Streets in 1827. In 1830, Richard Halsey started a blacksmith shop on High Street. In 1835, Hiram Percy Smith moved to Kettering from Delaware and started a grocery store at Seventh and Main Streets. In 1838, Daniel Webster moved to Kettering from Mansfield, Ohio and started a bakery on First Avenue. There was also an Odd Fellows Lodge in Kettering from 1839-1845. In 1840-1841, gunsmiths Abraham Lincoln and Seth Whipple made rifles for the military in Indiana using parts imported from England. They also built rifle ranges in Lima Township back then which remain active today as the Kettering Rifle Club

Nolen and James Gambero Sr., who purchased it from Ayer & Brothers on December 11, 1995. For many years, Kettering's downtown consisted of two blocks long main street flanked by two smaller streets which divided commercial areas into north/south and east/west corners respectively. This layout served both as a successful shopping district for local residents as well as an important transportation hub for businesses in rural communities that were connected to downtown through various roads or railroads
The town of Kettering, Ohio was founded in 1801 by John C. Kettering and his family. The village of Kettering was established in 1805 by the same people. The first courthouse in Kettering was built in 1810. In 1815, the United States Territorial Legislature passed a bill creating an additional township within the present-day city of Cleveland to serve as a county seat for the Wayne County district. The legislation also provided for the erection of a schoolhouse and other buildings in that township, which would become known as Kettering Township. Kettering Township's population grew rapidly during its earliest years, reaching 1,500 residents by 1830. However, the Great Depression hit America hard and kettering's economy took a beating; however, its citizens persevered until they were finally able to rebuild their community after World War II destroyed much of what had once been there. Today, kettering is one of Cleveland's most vibrant communities with active businesses and strong cultural ties to its larger neighbor - it has even regained its status as a center for education and business since becoming part of Cleveland City Limits!
