Maple Heights is a census-designated place in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,437 at the 2010 census. Maple Heights is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1855 as a small farming village named after maple sugar maples that grew near the present site of Maple Heights. It has since grown to include a large inner city neighborhood on its periphery and an outer suburb located within Cleveland itself. A post office called Maple Heights was established in 1857, and remained in operation until it closed in 1907. The first settler in Maple Heights was John A. Goodspeed Jr., who arrived with his family from Connecticut on July 4, 1855. Goodspeed moved his wife and four children to the community after selling their farmstead to Abram Beckles for £100 (). The name "Maple Heights" was given to the community by David Denny of Delaware County, Ohio who purchased land around what is now Maplehurst from Amos Bradley for $2 per acre (1/4 mile). When Denny died in 1865 his heirs sold their holdings back to him for $6 per acre (1/8 mile). From this initial purchase date through 1875 no formal deeds were issued; instead people simply assumed that the name had been given to them because of where they lived or what type of trees they saw growing along their roadsides (). In 1892 when street names were added to local government regulations new streets were christened accordingly: Park Avenue northward terminated at Euclid Avenue (then called Prospect Street), Spring Street eastward terminated at Clinton Avenue (now known as Superior Avenue), Elmira Boulevard southward terminated at Dutchna Way (), Irvington Road northward terminated at State Road () – all these streets still maintain their original namesakes today ().

Maple Heights is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the southern edge of the "Great Lakes" region. The population was 10,814 at the 2010 census and 12,815 at the 2015 census. The Maple Heights ZIP code is 43916. The town was founded by Loyalists who had fled during the American Revolution and settled near Fort Erie on Lake Ontario. When Ohio became a state in 1787, they continued to reside there and began to build a community that would become known as Maple Heights after their home town in England. In 1812, John Cranch founded what is now Cleveland's first commercial building - an insurance office called The Bank of Commerce - in what is now Maple Heights Cemetery. In 1815, he also built a gristmill which still stands today and has been used as a museum for local history since 1954. The first school in Maple Heights was built in 1819 by Mr. Brownell with materials from his farmhouse across the street from where it stands today. It initially served only boys until 1840 when girls were admitted too; however, due to lack of funds, it closed within three years and re-opened under new management as the Female Academy School before finally being bought out by Perry Township trustees in 1851 and becoming mapleheightschoolschoolschool in 1860 thanks to generous donations from Mrs Lavinia Haines Perry (the daughter of then-President James Krieger Perry). It wasn't until after Union troops burned down part of downtown Toronto during their occupation of Canada that people realized how important education was for rebuilding post-war America; accordingly, Mrs Perry donated enough money to rebuild Maple Heights' school twice its original size – making it one of only two high schools throughout Greater Cleveland still running under its original name (the other being Edison High School). After classes started back up again on Monday 1st September 1865 following a summer hiatus caused by Union General Sherman's March through Michigan & Indiana targeting manufacturing plants along the Great Lakes region while supplies lastly arrived from Boston via Erie Canal repairs/maintenance - students eagerly faced off against all odds once more each morning throughout October 25th 1865 when machines finally arrived THANKSGIVINGDAY! Unfortunately due to weather conditions (including bitter cold rain) that day's classes were cancelled instead opting for enjoy some fresh produce grown on our own property inside our newly renovated buildings! Our beloved president Lincoln delivered remarks regarding this event during his speech given just outside our doors that fateful day: "And I cannot help but deplore very greatly these wholesale destructions...I am sure we should resist them with every heart if possible." Unfortunately though not without loss some brave young men did eventually manage to return from theirindefinite leave days early Thanksgiving Day 1865 after enduring extreme hardships including walking 3 miles each way everyday non stop FROM MAPLE HEIGHTS TO MASSACHUSETTS TWELFTH STREET! This unfortunately led ultimately to many residents feeling resentment towards those who managed such difficult tasks & feelings remain strong & continuing into present day...

Maple Heights was first settled in 1795 by the family of Nicholas Maple. The first settler, Nicholas Maple, built a log cabin on the present site of Maple Heights Elementary School. The maple tree that stands in front of the school is one of Maple Heights' most famous landmarks.
