Ammunition production recommenced after World War II but slowed down during the Cold War era because of concerns over nuclear fallout from missile tests conducted near Cleveland Heights-Miamisburg area. Maumee, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Sandusky County. The population was 986 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati–Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlements in what is now Maumee were made by French explorers in 1701 on land that would later be known as Erie County. A post office was established at Maumee in 1811, and a town began to emerge around it soon after. In 1824, James Kapp founded Wabash College at what is now Western Reserve University; Wabash became one of the first universities in America. In 1828, Maumee's first store opened and remained open until 1870 when an grocery store became the center of town activity. By 1830, there were five churches in town with a total population of about 100 people; by 1840, this had increased to 15 churches with a combined population of 2,500 people. The city limits grew rapidly around this time as more and more settlers arrived from other parts of Ohio and Indiana to make their homes hereabouts; by 1850 they had reached 1,000 people. One major development during this time was River Road which connected downtown with miles of wilderness beyond it throughway – making it possible for farmers to haul produce all over town without having to leave their homes or go on long trips into rural areas where transportation wasn’t available or reliable (and where prices for such items were often much higher). This helped turn Maumee into one of the most important cities west of Cincinnati due to its role as an agricultural center for much of central Ohio (and even northeastern Indiana). By 1860, many residents had moved away from Maumee due to increasingly poor economic conditions throughout much Northwestern America due primarily to new technology developments that led directly to mass unemployment during the Civil War era – things like railroads which brought production closer together while alsoopening up access to markets overseas which undercut local prices (causing widespread starvation among those who couldn't get enough food).
