Medina, Ohio is a small town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Medina was first settled in 1796 and named for General George Rogers Clark. It became an incorporated village in 1868. Medina is located on the Scioto River near its confluence with the Maumee River. The river forms a border between Medina and Lucas County; it flows through Medina but does not cross into Lucas County. Medina has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa). According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Medina has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, abbreviated "Csb". The village was founded by Major General George Rogers Clark as part of his invasion of Northwest Territory in 1796. He named it for General Clark's victory over Native Americans at Monongahela Pass in that year. In 1868, when Delaware Township was organized within Medina Township, it included most of what is now called east central Ohio along with parts of Stark and Scott counties adjacent to Indiana Territory west of the Allegheny Mountains. When much of this area seceded from Michigan Territory during the Civil War, some residents chose to remain in Delaware Township while others moved to eastcentral Ohio including Medina which became their new home town name according to its incorporation date March 1st 1870 . On November 3rd 1912, due to complaints from other towns close by about water shortages caused by heavy farming operations being conducted on nearby hillsides without proper draining or filtration facilities – especially during droughts – Boardman commissioners ordered farmers there to stop using their private wells as well as order them to plant ornamental trees around their homes instead! This furore led eventually to annexation by Boardman township on January 15th 1913 making it one municipality among several newly formed areas around Toledo during that time including Trustees Park (now downtown Toledo), Marble Cliff (later Midtown), Genoa Heights (later Northwood), South Euclid Heights (later Eastwood) and Bloomfield Hills (northwest side today’s Perrysburg). By 1920 Boardman had annexed all but two villages within its borders plus Homer City so that nearly all communities were unitized with one municipality formulating laws governing all aspects such as zoning ordinances etcetera constituting “Boardman Municipal Code” still extant today although amended somewhat over time
