Mentor, Ohio is a small town located in the county of Lake County. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area. The first gun in Mentor was a Native American bow and arrow which was owned by John C. Stevens Sr. who lived in what is now the city of Akron. In 1836, George Stephenson built the Erie Canal and transportation became important in America because it allowed goods to be shipped from New England to California without having to go through ports on the East Coast or being unloaded and then transported back again. This made it possible for people such as Stephenson to become rich by trading goods they produced with other countries and becoming friends with them while developing their economy. In 1837, John C. Stevens Jr., son of John C. Stevens Sr., purchased an old rifle from Nicholas Biddle that had been used by General Anthony Wayne during his campaign against Tecumseh Indian Chief Little Turtle’s forces in 1795-96 (the Battle of Fallen Timbers). Although George Washington had banned handguns within our borders at this time, John C. Stevens Jr.'s rifle was not considered a weapon because it only fired arrows and did not have any cannons or bayonets on it like most handguns at that time (it would be about 25 years later that rifles like this would become popular). In 1838, Stevens sold his rifle to Amos Aiken who also owned a store called “The Arsenal” in downtown Akron where he could sell firearms for sale to anyone who wished to buy one regardless of whether they were legal arms under Ohio law at that time or not (just as long as you didn't own any property around where The Arsenal sat). In 1840, Aiken bought anotherold rifle from Nicholas Biddle which he renamed “The Rifleman” after purchasing it from John C. Stevens Jr.. This particular rifle continued being used until 1876 when it was gifted to Samuel Colt who operated an armory called The cylinder works near Hartford Ct., Connecticut where he made pistols using the same design as these rifles but with hammerless actions which gave him a higher degree of accuracy than those utilizing traditional methods such as smithing iron together into pieces big enough for manhandles - something no other person had done before him! Eventually this company became known as Colt Arms Corporation though Samuel Colt died Does anyone know why? Mentor's first gunsmith may have been Nicholas Biddle although nobody knows for sure since there are conflicting accounts about when this happened or even if he actually did tool up mentor's first firearmsmith!

The merger produced a new line of rifles called the Mentor-Belleville. These rifles were designed by George Hargrave and John Waddell and produced from 1908 to 1914.

On July 1, 1978, all fivelying municipalities within Cleveland were merged into Cleveland City Council and Mayor Arthur Sims dissolved Mentor's charter to create a single city government under his authority. On December 3, 1984–the day after being re- incorporation into Cleveland–Mentor voters approved amending their city charter to annex more land from unincorporated areas east of I-71 and west of Canal Road (to form what would become downtown). Mentor has since been home to several important companies including Dow Chemical Co.,Lenexa Corporation (later Lenexa Natural Gas Company), General Electric Company, Ford Motor Company, Wernher von Braun Enterprises Inc., United States Steel Corporation and many others!

Mentor, Ohio is a small town in Clinton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 792 at the 2000 census. The community was established in 1827 by Nicholas Mentor and his wife Sarah. It is named after Nicholas's mentor, John Mentor. Mentor prospered as a mercantile center during the early 19th century due to its location on the Mahoning River and its position within easy commercial reach of both Cincinnati and Cleveland. In 1837, mentorship became an important factor in the village's success when President James K. Polk appointed Nicholas Mentor treasurer of Clinton County; this position allowed him to build up the community into a powerful economic force. The Village of Mentor blossomed during the late 19th century as manufacturing operations expanded in central Ohio and new industries sprang up around it: printing presses, foundry work (particularly for cast iron products), cheese production, lumber yards and other goods making businesses such as these possible. However, during World War II much of what had made Mentor so successful came to an end: most manufacturing plants closed down or were relocated; but commerce continued to thrive thanks to widespread marketing through radio broadcasts from WKYC-TV (channel 3) which first aired from the village square in 1949 until 1978.
