Norwood is an unincorporated community in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. It lies southwest of the town of Stroudsburg and northeast of the village of Norwood Heights. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Norwood was Peter Wehrle who arrived in 1824. He built a log cabin on what is now State Route 536 and named it West Point. A post office called Norwood was established in 1829, and remained in operation until 1903. In 1833, John Siever moved to Norwood from Lebanon Township, Pennsylvania with his family and opened a farm that eventually yielded crops worth $2 million dollars over sixty years. Norwood became a village on November 3, 1908 when it merged with neighboring townships of Columbiana and Washington counties to form the new city of Columbus. The community's original name – "Wedgefield" – was changed to "Norwood" because many residents there had connections to edge farming near their homes in other villages or towns withinColumbus County. In 1915, the first public school opened within the limits of Norwood; however, it closed due to low enrollment after only one year due to lack of money for renovations or construction projects necessary for such an important school. In 1923-1924, two large churches were built within Orchard Park: First Presbyterian Church (then Methodist) and then Christmastime Lutheran Church (later United Methodist). These churches helped create a sense of community life within Norwod which would continue well into today’s days as people from all walks come together for religious services including worship at these sturdy buildings as well as business meetings/fairs inside or outside these churches during each holiday season! A post office called Norwoodsville was established in 1925; however this service also ceased operations three months later due to low mail volume caused by defaults on postal bonds issued by newly formed Columbus City Council! After much hard work by First Selectman James Fenton along with many members from local communities across Northeast Ohio - especially those living around Canonsburg -on December 10th 1928 issue #1 appeared in The Postmaster General’s Office announcing that “Norwoodsville has been accepted as an official post office name for all purposes under this government”!!! This monumental event signaled not only good news for locals but also great progress being made towardshood status quo achieved through action & determination over time!! After more than 50 years since its establishment…..the last customer served at our old post office located off SR 536 east side Saturday Dec 10th 2008 @ 4pm
