The first school in Norwood was built on a farmstead known as White Sands Ridge on October 9, 1838 by Mrs. Mary Cranch and Mr. David Sellers. By 1840, all but one student were attending school at White Sands Ridge Schoolhouse; this exception being James Cook who continued to attend Clifton Academy until 1841 due to financial difficulties brought on by his father's death that year. In 1850/51 Amos Peck rented land east of present day Orchard Road from Zenas Goodspeed for $3 per acre (0¢ per square foot). This property became known as "Goodspeed's Woods". Goodspeed donated most of his land for a public school which opened in September 1852 with 10 students and 2 teachers; this building still stands today as the Central High School complex across from Interstate 71 between Romeoville and Beavercreek reservoirs; it has been completely renovated since its opening day.. In 1861/62 Ebenezer Higgins leased from Zenas Goodspeed two tracts totaling 3 acres west of present day Orchard Road for $1 per acre (0¢ per square foot). These tracts became known as Higgins' Fields after Ebenezer Higgins himself.. During this time period there also existed several small unincorporated villages located within or around Norwood including Blue Hill Village (now part of Dayton), Cherry Valley Village (now part of Wright State University), Andover Township (now part of Mentor), Hocking Hills Village (now now an unincorporated community located within Butler County), Greenvilles Township (now an unincorporated community located within Barberton), Scotch Plains Township (now an unincorporated community located within Uniontown Heights) and much later Westmoreland Borough only partially denting the total number enumerated above... Some sources claim that throughout these years many more families moved into or settled near Norwood than actually lived there permanently... According to 1880 U.S Census data some 11% or soof residents living in Butler County had resided in any one place longer than five years previous while less than 1% had lived there continuously for ten years or more... With such high turnover rates it would be hard to determine how many people actually resident changed homes every five years during this timeframe... However with current population estimates placed at just over 10K residents according to2010 census data it seems very likely that quite a few more people then originally listed may have resided here longterm rather then initially settling... Despite these challenges however future historians may find interest herein given modern research documenting increased visitation rates associated with various tourist destinations close by such as Canfield vineyards & horse racing course etc.... Norwood, Ohio is a small town in the state of Ohio. It was founded in 1814 by members of theStatus Quo congregation. The town has a population of about 1,500 people and is located on the Scioto River. It is also home to Norwood High School, which has a student body of over 1,000. Norwood was originally called Westfield until 1814 when it changed its name to Norwood after General John Norwood who fought in the War for Independence. In 1828, Norwood became part of the Township of Scioto and was designated as a Village by an act of the General Assembly on July 10th, 1830. The Village had three stores and six residents. On May 3rd, 1836, it merged with township to form the present day Norwalk Township. The first school in Norwalk Township was built in 1840 and taught grades one through twelve. When that building burned down in 1865, a new school was constructed which eventually served grades thirteen through sixteen until it too was replaced by a new school which served grades one through twelve from 1909-1910 before being closed down due to lack of funding. A new school serving grades thirteen through sixteen opened on October 14th 1910 and remained in operation until it burned down on September 30th 1975. The last class to attend this old school were seventh graders who were transferred to South Central High School when that building opened two blocks away from North Central High School on December 5th 1975 which became overcrowded so construction began on what would be NORHOOD’S FIRST high school building which opened on December 6th 1976 with classes starting at 9:00am! This new school served students from kindergarten thru twelfth grade until 1978 when all students were transferred to South Central High School! When NORWOOD elementary reopened for fourth grade students following consolidation into South Central HS back in 1978 they continued using our original gymnasium where they played games outside during lunchtime! Our current gymnasium/auditorium complexopened up shop on October 1st 2003 thanks to donations (and some hard work) from our current or former students/staff! We now have four classrooms, commons area with kitchen/dining room & auditorium/multi-purpose room as well as locker rooms for both boys & girls!
