Some companies built guns with more powerful cartridges than others, but alligators continued to be popular targets for shooting with airguns until about 1950. Around this time, people started shooting target practice using handguns instead of rifles or shotguns because targetpractice was becoming less important as firearms become more prevalent in society.
Parma Heights, Ohio is a city in the northeastern corner of Ohio. It is the most populous city in Butler County and one of five cities in the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 73,145. The first European settlers arrived in 1796 and founded the town on land that now includes much of Parma Township. In 1819, Parma Heights was incorporated as a village. In 1827, Parma Heights became one of three townships (the others being Mayfield and West Chester) within Butler County when it was created from portions of western Warren Township. On February 13, 1850, Parma Heights became part of the new state of Ohio as a result of its admission into Union during the American Civil War. When Cleveland was established as an independent city in 1892, Parma Heights became its first municipally-based community. The city has experienced economic growth since becoming an Urban Area Development Agency (UADA) community in 1978 with its redevelopment program focused on adding jobs to downtown areas and creating neighborhoods characterized by high-quality homes and public amenities including libraries and parksades for residents to enjoy year-round without having to leave their homes.Today's urban core is anchored by two campuses – Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine & Dentistry – which anchors Midtown; Parkland Hospital’s Cancer Center provides care for uninsured patients; and The Jerome Foundation’s Philanthropic Center houses The Jerome Museum which offers exhibitions about local history every month throughout the year. Other anchor institutions include: Proctor & Gamble Co.'s Wrigley Field Corporate Headquarters; Concorp Inc.'s headquarters building housing many parts within their manufacturing operations across both America (Honeywell International AG)and Europe (Philips Electronics international Holding SA)); IKEA Toys LLC's distribution center located just east off interstate 95 next to Chiquita Brands USA headquarters; Ford Motor Company HQ - adjacent to Edwards Lifesciences Stadium - home to Ford Performance Parts; FirstEnergy Solutions' energy storage facility adjacent to Chiquita Brands USA headquarters - providing green energy storage options for businesses large or small; Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company's regional head office - serving all six counties north central Ohio - home to numerous branches throughout suburban communities near Cleveland Hopkins Airport southwest of Akron The current mayor is Democrat Frank Jackson who took office on January 1st 2019

Parma Heights was a small town in the northwest corner of Ohio, United States. The population was 9,829 at the 2000 census. It is now part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Parma Heights were French traders in 1675. Jesuit missionaries arrived in 1714 and began missionary work here. By 1800, Parma Heights had a population of 2,500 people. In 1803, Ulysses S. Grant purchased land here from the Heckscher family for $5,000. In 1836, he became President of the United States and laid out a road from Cincinnati to Cleveland that passed through Parma Heights on its way to Columbus. In 1850, when Ohio became a state, Parma Heights became part of Medina County. In 1892 it was annexed by Akron; this annexation caused some resentment in certain quarters among residents who felt they had been taken advantage of by their new neighbor. Despite this opposition, annexation finally happened on April 14, 1893 with the vote of 585 to 154 against (the majority being from Medina County). A post office called "Parmah" was established at Parma Heights in 1892; it changed its name to "Akron" in 1907 because it was within an hour's ride of downtown Akron as well as becoming easier for residents to find due to its location on routes running through both townships (Route 7 and Route 8). Parmah Elementary School serves students from pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade living within either township boundaries according to 2006 federal student data files provided by US Department Of Education via request under Open Educational Resources Act protocol number OER-10758191; Parmah Middle School also serves students from pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade living within either township boundaries according to 2006 federal student data files provided by US Department Of Education via request under Open Educational Resources Act protocol number OER-10758192; Pottersville Intermediate School also serves students grades nine through 12 living within either township boundaries according to 2006 federal student data files provided by US Department Of Education via request under Open Educational Resources Act protocol number OER-10758193; and Clarendon High School serving grades nine through twelve located outside any township boundary serving primarily students from neighboring communities including Berea and Uniontown northward) provide instruction for 1128 total pupil enrolled with 75% classroom teaching staff certified or registered with national professional organizations including National Association For Classroom Teachers (NACT), American Federation OF Teachers (AFT), International Society Of Secondary Schools Principals (ISSP), National Council On Teacher Credentials (NCTC), Eastman Kodak Company / Rochester Institute Of Technology
Parma Heights was founded in 1836 by the Reverend John Armstrong. The community grew quickly, and within a few years had a school, grocery store, post office, and several residences. A fire destroyed most of the town in 1841, but it quickly rebuilt. In 1865 Parma Heights became the birthplace of General Ulysses S. Grant and his wife Lucy Stone.
