In 1827, a group of Americans led by Capt. David W. Brown founded the town of Ravenna in what is now Ohio. The town was named for the ravens that frequented its location and were said to be able to see far away. In 1842, the town was moved from its original site to what is now Ravenna Township because of encroachment on land by neighboring towns. The first post office in Ravenna opened in 1845. By 1870, there were over 100 businesses in Ravenna with a population of over 600 people. The village gradually declined due to economic reasons and was abandoned in the early 21st century.
Ravenna, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Butler County. The population was 991 at the 2010 census. Ravenna was founded in 1814 by General Anthony Wayne and became part of the United States in 1794 as part of the Northwest Territory. It was formally incorporated as a city on December 12, 1837, by an act of Congress. In 1916, it merged with neighboring Chester to form what is now known as Cleveland-Ravenna-Chester Combined Statistical Area (CSA). The area that would become Ravenna was first settled by Native Americans in the late eighteenth century when they were forced out of their land near present-day Toledo by British forces following the Seven Years' War. The area now called Ravenna was first platted in 1814 by General Anthony Wayne while he served as military governor of Northwest Territory including present-day Ohio and Indiana. The town developed rapidly due to its location midway between two major trade routes - one linking Cincinnati with Philadelphia and then Baltimore through Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and another running from Fort Dearborn on Lake Erie to Youngstown on the Great Lakes via Detroit and Toledo. In 1837, when Cleveland became an independent municipality within Butler County, it annexed most of Ravenna including much valuable real estate along High Street which still remains today a commercial main street in downtown Cleveland. At this time it also included parts of what are now Akron, Canton, Medina Heights and Woodstock Township among other townships within Butler County. On December 12th.,1837 City Council adopted a resolution declaring that “the incorporation hereof into a body politic does not constitute or imply any change or alteration either in its organization or government” This resolution marked early success for Cleveland as it quickly grew from frontier outpost to center stage in Northwest Territory politics during the 1830s period before becoming an fullfledged city under Articles OF Confederation on December 12th.,1837.) On November 3rd.,1857 representatives from both cities met at Municipal Hall located at 509 Superior Avenue corner Delaware Street to discuss plans for creating transportation infrastructure across Northeast Ohio connecting newly designated western areas such as Ashtabula County with eastern sections such as Clarkston Township just east of Cleveland – plans that remain today one example of how municipal cooperation can result in improved public transportation options throughout Northeast Ohio

Ravenna, Ohio is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Ravenna was founded in 1825 by John and Mary Neely as a stop on the road between Portsmouth and Youngstown. The name came from nearby Ravenna Township. In 1827, the township of Ravenna joined with Mahoning County to form its present form. The first store in Ravenna was built by Isaac Campbell in 1827. It was the only business in town until 1845 when a post office became established. At that time, there were only nine residents living in what is now Ravenna Township; today it has a population of over 2,000 people. One of the earliest businesses to open in Ravenna was Acker's grocery store which opened on Main Street in 1830. Acker would later become one of the largest merchants and community boosters in town. Other early businesses included: Jethro Gibbs' hardware store (1831), Powell's clothier (1832), Brewster & Company cigars (1834), Alexander Witherspoon's tannery (1835-36), and Barnes & Co.'s bakery (1839). In 1841, anearly road bridge across Delaware Creek was completed by John Costigan and James Laddey resulting in improved transportation within and outside of town for those who could afford it; this also helped spur development within town limits including new homes being built along Delaware Creek Road beginning around this same time frame In 1840-41 General Nelson Miles visited Ravenna while campaigning for his bid for President against Andrew Johnson Miles went into great detail about the small towns he had seen during his campaign tour; these descriptions are still used today as part of local tourism promotion efforts throughout Mahoning County . As early as 1840-41 local newspapers began publishing images of property deeds/transfer documents filed with county land records as part of various real estate transactions within/outside of town including purchases/changes to land holdings made through purchase offers or auctions held at county fairs etc.; this type of publication continued until well into the 20th century . By 1850 both sides had abandoned their agricultural pursuits for more industrialal endeavors such as milling flour etc., but some remnants remain such as Acker's Hardware Store where operations continue to this day
In 1812, Ravenna was founded by James Evans and his wife Nancy. The town served as a stop on the Underground Railroad, helping fugitive slaves escape to freedom. In 1819, Ravenna became the capital of Ohio. In 1825, the first public school in Ohio opened in Ravenna.
