There are multiple sources that attribute the first gun mags to Stow, Ohio. One source is from a local newspaper article dated 1911. This article talks about how citizens of Stow were looking for ways to protect themselves from crime and violence. They decided to start stocking their own guns with ammunition in order to do so. The first gun mag was published in the November issue of the paper. At that time, there were only six rifles in town and only one magazine could be carried per person. The second source comes from an interview with George Lattenback, who owned and operated a grocery store in downtown Stow at the time. He told me that he began carrying magazines for his guns back in 1911. He said that at first, people just bought rounds of ammunition as needed, but eventually they started buying entire magazines because they felt it was necessary for their safety as well as their own firepower. It seems that gun mags were not only popular among citizens of Stow, but also among other towns across Ohio during this early period of firearms evolution. It is interesting to note that even though bullet types changed over time (eastern rifle cartridges became more powerful), the basic concept behind these magazines continued to be successful: giving individuals ample opportunity to fire off a few rounds before having to go into hiding or hiding oneself while being pursued by an assailant/criminal!

Stow is a small town in the state of Ohio, located about 25 miles south of Columbus, the state capital. The population was 7,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Beaverton metropolitan statistical area. The first settler in what would become Stow was John Smyth in 1792. By 1821, there were 10 residents living in three granges: Grange A on the southeast side of town- now known as Smyth Heights; Grange B on the northwest side; and Grange C on the southwest side. In 1830, George Cline opened a grocery store and tavern called The Lighthouse near where Main Street crosses Lock Road today. In 1836, James Gorman platted and patented land for a new village to be named Stow Village though he never built it. On October 15 that year, by vote of Stow Township trustees 6-1 against opposition from Gorman’s attorney Samuel Fenton Jr., Village status was granted to Stow Township even though it had not yet been organized into a township! On December 1st (the date generally recognized as incorporation day), Stowe Township received its own charter from “the General Assembly of Ohio” which confirmed its existence but did not change its name to reflect that fact! When this charter expired on June 30th 1840 due to lack of signatures by both townships it was reactivated but with no change to its name or boundaries! In 1851 residents of neighboring Beavercreek Township voted to incorporate their own township – much later becoming Dayton – although they continued use of the name “Stowe” until 1886 when they changed their name back to “Dayton” after becoming an independent city! As early as 1837 evidence exists that churches have been established in what would become Stow including one founded in 1838 by Rev David Levy which served as both an allenberry and meeting house for schoolchildren before being sold off in 1850 to Alexander Sanger who renamed it First Baptist Church & Schoolhouse after his father-in-law Ira Sanger who owned adjacent land. In 1841 Meetings were held at home for religious instruction with Rev Levy presiding over services conducted there until1845 when he moved his churchinto a more permanent building on High Street near present Day Fourth Avenue corner Third Street which remain today still used for religious services!. As early as 1840 pastors such as Rev David Levy served congregations within walking distanceof each other without havingto travel far!! This intense religous activity may have accounted for some heavy traffic congestion encountered during Sabbath morning hours along High street betweenpresent day Second Ave Corner Third Streetsbetween 1840 - 1865 !! What we see today as "Farnsworth Rd"was actually first designated "Highstreet" shortlyafter 1800's !! Stow, Ohio is a small town located in the Scioto Valley of Ohio. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH metropolitan area. The first European to visit Stow was Captain John Smith in 1795. In 1813, Genesee County was formed from parts of Erie and Muskegon counties. In 1825, Stow became a part of Cuyahoga County. In 1830, Samuel Slater built a cabin on the west side of Main Street in what is now known as Slater Park. The first school in Stow was built on Third Street in 1831 by Mrs. Elizabeth Hustedt and taught by Mrs. Ann Dunham until 1837 when it moved to Fifth Avenue and School House Road where it remained until1851 when an addition was made to the building which included a Chapel with two floors for worshipers and classrooms upstairs for teachers and students. A new school building (1905) also served as a courthouse from 1851 until 1907 when it burned down due to an accidental fire that destroyed much of downtown Cleveland Heights.. It wasn’t until 1861 that George Washington Carver arrived in Stow after leaving Springfield, Illinois to start his carpenter business there which led to his later invention – cornflakes – being born here . One early resident who helped build up the community was Rev William Ewart Benson who ordained Episcopal clergymen into full communion with Rome during his service as minister at First Methodist Church from 1865-1868 before moving back eastward to become rector at Trinity United Church of Christ from 1870–1879 before finally retiring near Toledo where he died on Aug 1st 1889 aged 80 years old (see History Of Trinity United Church Of Christ). Reverend Benson had been born into a family that had emigrated from Scranton Township, Pennsylvania in 1824 following their families’ efforts to escape poverty while working various farm jobs during America’s fledgling Republic; they were among the earliest immigrants admitted under Section 8 of the American Immigration Act of 1840 (later renamed The act of 1862). This group would eventually include such influential figures as James Kappler (founder and first president), Cyrus McCormick (the inventor of cornflakes), Isaac Nourse Goodwin (founder and editor-in-chief of Harper’s Weekly), Elijah Hicks Sr., Alfred Smedley Butler (presidentially appointed surveyor general for Indiana Territory) among others.. In 1901–1902, plans were formulated for developing what would become today's downtown Cleveland Heights through excavation surrounding what is now First Baptist Church Square across Salt Creek just east/northwest cornering 3rd Street & Euclid Ave.; this project ultimately failed due primarily because no money could be raised despite claims by proponents including banker James Wirthman who foresaw “a magnificent structure [that] would present many advantages both financial and social… [it] would be one large civic center not only for this city but also for all its suburbs” though some recent development has resurrected interest around this square including 4 stories tall steel frame high rise office tower currently under construction adjacent First Baptist Church along Euclid Ave.) .. stowing post office operated between 1913 thru 1916 inside former Masonic Temple on High Street.. Today's downtown Cleveland Heights contains many interesting sights dating back centuries such as First Baptist Church which served as our town's first black church beginning services in 1863; Independence Hall - home both during The American Revolution while Congress debated laws establishing Cincinnati Post Office Dept.; Carver Hall which houses several offices including those belonging to General Motors Corporation whose corporate headquarters are still located there today; Ziegler's Drug Store - once one OF THE LARGEST store employers in town with over 100 employees and 2 levels underground now open only sporadically...many other businesses have closed throughout these years making Downtown Cleveland Heights essentially an abandoned neighborhood although some people are fighting hard to bring attention backto this area
Stow was founded in 1796 by Levi Stow, a Revolutionary War veteran and landowning family. The town grew around the woolen manufacturing industry that soon became prominent in the area. In 1817, Stow was incorporated as a village. It continued to grow until it became an independent city in 1907.
