Stow, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio that was founded in 1814. The population was 5,584 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Miami-Inland region of Ohio. Stow is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area and it is also included in the Cleveland–Providence–Westerville, OH Combined Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become Stow Township was John Fenton who arrived with his family in 1814. In 1825, Joshua Fry settled here and built the first frame home on today's east side of Main Street. During that same year, George Prentice also moved to Stow from Xenia, Ohio and began farming here as well. By 1830, all these settlers had established themselves and started to build homes around what are now Fourth Street and Market Avenue (now US-13). In 1834, James Aiken bought a farm north of present day Third Street from David Lapp for $500 dollars which he used as his main home until his death in 1880; during this time period it became known as "Aiken's Valley". After James Aiken's death his widow Mary Jankowski donated land along Third Street between Purchase and Jefferson Streets (later renamed Kenedy Place) to establish a public school district for her township – one that still exists today! The school district name was later changed to Stow Community Schools when it merged with other local districts statewide in 1998.) The village of downtown Stow developed primarily due to commercial activity associated with lumberyards/sawmills along Harrison Road west of 3rd Avenue until those activities were discontinued around World War II when military production shifted away from Toledo towards Dayton etc.; however some residential development continued up Harrison Road into the early 21st century including several high-rise condominiums built right next door to each other between Second and Third Avenues during this time period! Later on during this time there were job centers set up throughout downtown by various companies such as Allied Signal Corporation; they remain extant today but have been converted into office buildings housing various businesses such as Wawa convenience store chains since 2001! As an agricultural center prior to World War II much land was farmed by tenant farmers who leased their plots from large landowners or received payment on goods sold while growing crops/livestock rather than receiving title deeds or ownershiprights; after war ended most tenants left although not all did so immediately – some held out through tough economic times before moving away when prices increased sufficiently for them too! While portions of central business district such as 4th & Fifth Avenues remain industrial areas today containing many warehouses and light manufacturing mills (e.g.; Proctor & Gamble), much farmland has been turned over to agriculture including much near Sixth Avenue where factories once stood! Today there are several retirement communities scattered throughout central business district area which are being developed by private investors looking for suburban living close enoughto Downtown Akron but without sacrificing qualityof life or accessto important cultural attractions likethe University Of Akron!!

Stow is a small town in the northwestern portion of Holmes County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Stow were French traders in 1701. In 1802 American fur trader David Lapp channeled the Cuyahoga River near present-day Stow and named it for George Augustus Stowe, 1st Baron Northumberland (1746–1827), an English gentleman who had been involved in several land deals with Native Americans in what is now Pennsylvania and Ontario. The town site that became Stow was platted on December 12, 1803 by John Dickey as part of a township laid out by James A. Logan from parts of Union Township, Delaware County. The plat included land for a Methodist church and school; it also included all or part of five lots which were sold to provide funds for construction of these structures. The first settler was Isaac Walton who arrived April 16, 1804 from Canandaigua Township, New York City via Portage Lake and built a cabin on lot No. 3 east of the village center on what is now Old Main Street. Mr. Walton's wife jr., Susannah Walton (died 1907), came with him three years later and they raised two children there: Solomon (born October 4, 1805) and Ruth (born November 20, 1807). One daughter died young; Susannah married John Whitehead about 1840 who recollects her father saying "Susannah never quite knew when she had enough." In 1830 Samuel Morse sent his first Morse Code message across the Great Lakes using short wave technology from his farm in Wayne County, Michigan
