Tiffin, Ohio is one of the few cities in the United States that has both a knife and tool history dating back to its founding as a community in 1814. The city’s namesake, Tiffin, was named for two Revolutionary War veterans, Captain Samuel Tiffin and Lieutenant John Tiffin. Captain Tiffin was born in 1775 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and served with distinction during the American Revolution. Lieutenant Tiffin was also an able officer who distinguished himself during the war. Today, Toledo – located just to the east of Tiffin – is home to America’s third largest manufacturer of knives (after World War II Japanese manufacturers) while Cleveland (to the north) is home to one of America’s leading knife retailers/selleries. In addition, Toledo has become a center of Knife Manufacturing activity with several companies manufacturing custom-made knifes and folders as well as limited editions and speciality knives including hand-forged swords and axes. Tiffin’s rich knife history can be traced back to 1814 when it became known as a small town situated on what is now known as State Road 3A. One of its early residents was David Sibley who operated a store at 4 Main Street before moving his business over to what is now City Hall Square in 1824. This location served as social & economic hub for many years until it burned down in 1860 due to lack of insurance coverage. However, thanks largely to Mayor Willard Beeler who championed the building's restoration efforts after it reopened in 1862 following a $5 million dollars donation from local industrialist Dolph Ziegfeld – then CEO of Ziegfeld Follies - Tiffin quickly regained its former prominence as an important cultural center within the city limits by 1870. During this time period there were also numerous other businesses established throughout downtown which continued serving customers until they were forced out by advances in transportation which made downtown shopping centers like Union Station obsolete within 25 years! The success enjoyed by downtown Toledo during this time represented something very special for society at large; Downtown streets had been re-named after famous citizens or landmarks such as Christopher Columbus Boulevard (now North High Street), Jonathan Dayton Boulevard (now Erie Boulevard), Market Street (now West Side Highway), etc., yet never once did any attempt are made whatsoever to rename them after anything related thereto other than defunct businesses or stores gone out of business! It should be noted here that prior to 1870 Downtown Streets reverted back exclusively unto their original street name(s) unless otherwise specified herein). The popularity enjoyed by downtown Toledo led directly into increased development around it beginning around 1830 when Anthony Applegate erected his first brick building on what today is First Avenue between State Road 3A & Canal Street -serving primarily retail purposes up until his death circa 1850 leaving behind extensive property holdings including land surrounding today’s Civic Center Park where he built additional luxury buildings including “the world’s first opera house [and]…the most expensive theater ever built [on] earth[.]". These developments continue unabated into our current day with various high end restaurants being located within walking distance or even car ride away from everything happening within city limits without actually suffering any negative impacts whatsoever! After Applegate's death some prominent local developers followed suit purchasing properties adjacent / adjoining Applegate's extant properties resulting in what we know today as "The Annex" area comprising much of First Avenue between State Road 3A & Canal Street -home currently housing more than 20 upscale restaurants belonging not only Tolocal but international brands along side multiple levels Of Parking!. In short: While much has changed since 1860 when Tiffany first emerged onto these shores due largelyto apponential growth rates occurring subsequent thereto...nothing could quite compare with how things have evolved over intervening generations wherein Downtown Streets have effectively remained virtually unchanged despite continuous redevelopment taking place all around them...a true testamentTo Urban planning 101!

The boomtown’s growth began with construction of roads and railroads as settlers traveled to find new land for farming or manufacturing purposes; this led to increased competition for resources and jobs among nearby townsfolk who had no access to these services or lacked capital necessary for such ventures. By 1900, over 60% of all workers in Tiffin were engaged in agriculture; by 2000 this had declined to 30%. Manufacturing also experienced decline beginning around that time as automation displaced many skilled workers across most industries worldwide while fuel prices continue to rise making mining less profitable than other forms of economic activity making steel production more difficult too achieve profitability even at current levels A major factor contributing to declining industrial production has been technological advances which have eliminated most manual labor tasks within factories while continuing automated processes thereby increasing profits margins through subcontracting In recent years there has been concerted efforts by local businesses including development of a downtown mall anchored by anchor stores like Macy's & Sears along with renovation/updates on several arterial streets providing new commercial Districts totaling 3 blocks long
