In 1922, United States Steel Corporation moved its operations out of Cleveland and into what is now Cincinnati because steel production was moving upriver into new countries such as Mexico and China; this made University Heights an ideal location for Steeltown USA which would house all new steel production until 1991 when it moved again due to pollution concerns in Toledo, Michigan. The current name given to Steeltown USA today is "Stroud Industries". In 1952), United States Naval Station Newport News (USNS Newport News) relocated ashore within present day Univision Park boundaries; this allowed Univision Multimedia Entertainment Company—the parent company then known as Time Warner Entertainment—to build a major multi-screen movie theater complex on land that once served as Naval Hospital's grounds adjacent to Easton Elementary School across Euclid Avenue from Monroeville High School (now Monroeville Middle School). University Heights, Ohio is a census-designated place in the town of University Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,874 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office opened in 1892 and was called "Houghton." In 1907 it was renamed "University Heights". The name change came about because of the large number of students attending nearby Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). As more people moved to University Heights, they needed a new name for their community. So on October 25, 1907, the first school board meeting in University Heights voted to adopt the name "University Heights" and changed the town's charter to reflect this decision. The university has been located in University Heights since its inception in 1909. The school originally offered courses only in English language arts and mathematics but soon began offering courses in other areas as well including science and engineering. Today many students attend CWRU which makes Univ HE one of the largest employers within walking distance of campus. In 1949 when Cleveland Municipal Airport opened it quickly became an important hub for airport activity with residents commuting into Cleveland from all over Northeast Ohio as well as from surrounding states such as Pennsylvania and West Virginia respectively. With that growth came increased traffic congestion on Euclid Avenue which made access to many classes difficult for residents and caused some schools to close down or move out of their buildings onto streets near the airport until finally Congress passed a bill making Euclid Avenue an expressway providing much needed relief for drivers who could no longer easily get through during rush hour! This legislation also helped spur development along Euclid Ave which now includes several restaurants, small businesses etc., making Univ HE one of cleveland's most vibrant neighborhoods today!
