Bartlesville, Oklahoma is a small town located in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The population was 3,747 at the 2010 census. It lies approximately north-east of Saskatoon and east of Regina. Bartlesville is part of the Regina–Yorkton Census Metropolitan Area. The name "Bartlesville" was given to the community by Hyrum Bartlett, who founded what is now known as the University of Saskatchewan in 1874. The post office in Bartlesville opened on July 1, 1898 and closed on May 31, 1955. The first store open in Bartlesville was a general store operated by J.D. Herndon and his brother Wm. Fenton from 1904-1907; they also built a schoolhouse that served as the town's first courthouse (1898). The first oil well west of Canada was drilled in 1907 by Harry Jourdain for Standard Oil Company with results reported in early 1908 but production did not begin until 1915 when Orinoco Gas Exploration Co., Ltd began producing gas from an associated natural gas field nearby named White Butte No 2 which had been leased from Anglo American Petroleum Company Ltd.. In 1916 Orinoco Gas Exploration Co., Ltd sold its assets to Iowan Hub Coal & Coke Company Incorporated and production continued until it merged with United States Steel Corporation's Tulsa refinery company into UBS (United States Steel) during World War II to form USSOCOM Incorporation et al.; however, this venture never produced any steel products due to wartime shortages caused by Pearl Harbor attacks which disrupted global trade. On October 15th 1925 Burt Reeves purchased 6 acres (2 ha) southeast of town along US 26 for $10 per acre ($ [$] today) after being inspired while driving along US 26 looking for new land to farm due to lack thereof near his home place outside London Ontario Canada; he renamed it Reeves' Prairie after himself and his two brothers serving with Canadian Expeditionary Force during WW1 - Gordon Riggs (USMC), Lewis Reeves (USNVR), Cecil John Vaughan (Coptic Chaplain Corps - Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve) all natives or citizens of British Columbia Territories northwest of Edmonton Alberta Canada - thus beginning farming operations there starting 1926 followed quickly by other family members soon thereafter including Harold Laughlin III Sr.(former owner/operator Stanley Brothers FARMS & CO LP.), Alvan Everson( formerly owner/operator First National Bank #2()); later that year he erected a white fiberboard structure similar to those used today serving as his business Headquarters originally called 'Homespun Store'. Bartlesville, Oklahoma is a town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 902 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Haskell County. Bartlesville was founded on December 4, 1907 by Elisha W. Bartlett and his wife Emma with the goal of creating an agricultural community to serve as a crossroads for trade between eastern Kansas and western Oklahoma. The town's first post office opened in 1908. Bartlesville grew rapidly during World War I due to the demand for munitions from military sites across the warring countries involved in the conflict. In 1920, Bartlesville became one of four towns in Haskell County to become incorporated as a city; it had a population of only 100 people. During World War II, Bartlesville was hit hard by bombardments from nearby Japan; its main shopping district experienced damage and loss of life however, no physical injuries were reported until after America entered World War II and began bombing targets in Japan specifically targeting civilians (the " aircraft industry"). After the end of World War II, growth returned to Bartlesville through new businesses arrivals and expansions throughout the late 1960s into early 1970s thanks to oil discoveries in that area; real estate prices increased dramatically throughout this period too which led to many high-end subdivisions being built around what is now downtown Bartlesville including famous Barton Hills subdivision which still remains one of most popular neighborhoods among residents today
In 1881, Bartlesville was founded by George W. Bartles and his brother, James H. Bartles. The town was named in honor of General John C. Breckinridge, who had fought in the American Civil War and later served as a U.S. Senator from Kentucky. The brothers built a log cabin on the banks of the Arkansas River and started trading goods with settlers in Whatcom County. In 1886, George W. Bartles bought 160 acres northeast of town for $10 per acre and began to build a sawmill that would produce lumber for local buildings and export to other towns in what is now Tulsa County. The first school in Bartlesville was opened in 1889 by Mrs. Fannie Kingman (née Funk). The first post office was established at Barthlesville on October 15, 1892 by Jno Smeaton (later Postmaster). The population of Bartlesville peaked at 1,500 people around 1907 when they began developing the town into an agricultural center with raising crops such as corn, cotton, potatoes, etc., for local consumption orexport to other parts of Oklahoma and Texas; however this activity gradually diminished over time because of technological advances which made it more efficient to ship goods by air instead of land
