The Choctaw Nation was founded in 1829 by the Creek nation. The Choctaw people were a hunter-gatherer people who lived in and around the Great Lakes region. The Creek nation was divided up into many groups in 1795, and the Choctaw were among the last to join the Creek nation. In 1830, some of the Creeks left their homes and moved westward to what is now Oklahoma Territory. When white farmers began settling in this area, they needed someone to work on their farms, and so they hired Indians to do this work. This practice continued until 1907 when Indian Removal Act made it illegal for any Indian person to remain in Oklahoma without first getting permission from a U.S. government official. As a result, manyChoctaw people turned away from their traditional ways and became wanderers2. In 1901, Edward Jett decided to set his business up near Choctawtown on Osage River because he felt that this would be an ideal spot for a lumber company3. At first, Jett's company did well but then came World War I which caused prices for lumber skyrocketing4. However, Jett managed to keep his business going during World War II by trading goods with Japan5. After the war ended, Jett's company went bankrupt6 and he died in 19517 . Many of his employees followed him into bankruptcy8 but some managed to keep their businesses going9 . Today, there are still several companies that operate out of Choctawtown10 . One of the most important aspects of Choctawtown's history is its role as a military post during World War II11 . From 1941-1945, Choctawtown served as an airfield for American forces conducting operations against enemy combatants12 . It also played an important role during Operation Neptune’s Spear (the invasion of Malaya), which aimed to drive Japanese forces out of Southeast Asia13 . This experience helped countless soldiers learn howto handle firearms14 ."

Choctaw is a city in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 8,829 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Choctaw County. The town was founded by white settlers in 1881 and named for the Creek word "chocteau" meaning "waterfall." The first whiteER settlement in Choctaw County was made by John Morrill on November 3, 1881 when he and his party of six came downriver from Arkansas to prospect for land in present day Choctaw County. They camped on the bank of the Arkansas River just north of present day Choctaw City. On February 15, 1882, Morrill's group founded what would become Choctaw City on lands that they had explored earlier that year. He named it after Chocteau Falls which he saw while travelling upriver from Little Rock, Arkansas. The falls were located about two miles (3 km) south-west of modern day Choctaw City on a tributary of the Arkansas River. In 1893, Harry Laughlin became one of the first white entrepreneurs to open a store in what would become downtown Choctaw City. He started trading goods such as flour and cattle products from his farm near Pawhuska until he opened his store on Fourth Street between Congress and Elm Streets in 1889. In 1902 James Molineaux established a hardware store opposite Laughlin's business along Third Avenue North near today's Tulsa University Campus; this store continued to be operated until it closed its doors in 1978 following prohibition raids by law enforcement officials during the Great Depression. east side blocks away from Molineaux's Hardware Store was Wm Haggerty's restaurant which served food until 1951 when it converted into an ammunition depot; later it became an advertising office for local radio stations before finally becoming vacant again and being used as an animal shelter beginning in 1984 before being demolished starting in 1990; currently part of Tulsa State University's College Park campus is current ground level commercial space above former Wm Haggerty’s restaurant once occupied by Molineaux’s Hardware Store All these buildings are listed together on Oklahoma State Register Of Historic Sites #92715 From 1890 through 1954 no middle class development occurred within close proximity to DowntownChoctawCITY where prosperous families lived with servants or bought homes closer outlying rural areas working only occasionally visiting their kinfolk during long absences unable or unwilling to take time off workaday family responsibilities continuing English cultural values alive & well unchanged despite lack thereof contact w/ tho Negro race thru intermarriage

Choctaw was a Native American tribe who inhabited the area now known as Oklahoma. The Choctaw people are thought to have originated from the confluence of the Arkansas and Missouri rivers. They migrated eastward over time and eventually became dominant in what is today Oklahoma. The Choctaw language is still spoken by some Choctaw living in Oklahoma today. The first known mention of the Choctaw people was made in 1767 when British explorer Pierre Le Moyne discovered them while exploring present-day Arkansas. In 1819, U.S. military officer, General Hugh Waddell founded Fort Gibson on the banks of the Arkansas River to protect settlers traveling through that region. The fort served as a base of operations for Indian Removal efforts led by President James Kossuth during the 1830s and 1840s. In 1836, following an outbreak of war with France, United States forces moved into present-day OKlahoma Territory and began Augustus Pullen's Indian Expedition to drive away all Native Americans not loyal to America. On July 16, 1837, General John Custer attacked Battle Creek near present-day Tulsa, Okla., routing more than hundred Native Americans at what would become known as Custer's Massacre. As a result of this event, many Creeks abandoned their land in eastern Oklahoma and withdrew westward into Texas and Mexico proper (the so-called Great Sioux War). The Choctaw Nation was organized on November 3, 1907 under act of Congress called "An Act for Promoting Industrial Arts among Indians." This act provided for several benefits for tribal members including education opportunities; access to government services; economic development; protection from white aggression; and recognition by other tribes as part of their own unique cultures/cults/languages/etc.. On December 5th 1909 Cherokee Nation also merged into Choctaw Nation forming one entity with voting rights equal to those enjoyed by individual Cherokee nation members at that time ! A resolution recognizing Indian Nations united through merger passed both chambers but no action was taken due to opposition from Utah Congressman Orrin Hatch who felt that any federally recognized tribes should be placed within his state alone rather then sharing resources with others
