Ark Encounter opened on July 1, 2009 and featured four restaurants, three water parks (including one with an underground pool), several amusement rides including a Golden Spike coaster ride themed after dinosaurs launched out of an excavation site inside the park, plus many more exhibits related to history and culture from around the world at IMAX theaters throughout the park.. The park closed on October 20th 2019 following heavy rains that caused extensive damage both inside and outside Ark Encounter Park .
