In 1963, Oral Roberts University moved from its original downtown location to its current building on East Washington Avenue just south of Interstate 35W; this move made it one of only two universities (the other being Baylor College of Medicine) located inside the city limits of Tulsa metropolitan area (the other being Texas Southern University). Today's downtown Shawnee contains many historical buildings that have been restored or replaced with new structures over time: courthouse (1883), Masonic Lodge No. 909 (1910), First Baptist Church Building (1912), American Legion Hall (1914), Temple Emanuel Synagogue (1920), Post Office Building/Stadium/ movie theater complex 1925-present including both Regional Arts Center and Second Life Theatre complex; General Land Office Building 1923-present; Eastern Cherokee Nation School for Girls 1924-1988; Community Service Administration Building 1957-present; Nursing Home 1956-2005 The business district around Central Park includes several large retailers such as Meijer Department Store and Kmart Supercenter along with smaller stores like Pep Boys Mart and Dollar Tree
