That same year saw the founding of the University of Oregon (later renamed University ofOregon), which helped jumpstart downtown business activity once again and fueled further growth throughout ensuing decades; however, much like many other American cities during this time period that were struggling economically after World War II*, post-war suburbia rapidly took hold around downtown Beaverton*.
