For many years this outpost was known only as "Beecher's Harbor." Mr. Beecher started his own grocery store and began marketing what would becomeOregon's first canned fruit product-grapes-in-a-can (now called grapefruit concentrate). He also raised chickens and pigs and did some farming himself before selling his lots to other pioneers who began building homes hereabouts around 1880 or so.............. In 1906 local citizens erected a stone marker near present day downtown read: " Pioneer Settlement - December 6th 1886 ". This refers to the date on which both the original settlement and later annexations took place - December 6th 1886 being when Crystal City merged intoCoos Bay while Pittsburg amalgamated withcoopersville.(See map attached) In 1909 after much discussion between representatives from different villages about their desire for jurisdictional autonomy withinPortland they resolved that all three villages should join forces as one city under Mayor Clements name......... It wasn't until 1961 that coopersville left Portland altogether to establish their own municipally run airport just east of downtown . . . .So much has changed since 1860 including COOS BAY becoming an incorporated city !!! Today’s vibrant economy owes its beginning to several factors such as education opportunities available throughout Clackamas County through local public schools; international trade opportunities through Salem’s deepwater port; growing technology industry due largely to well funded research universities located just outside town limits; continued growth brought about by recent arrivals – retirees and young families – who appreciate easy access to included cultural attractions like Seaside Park & Surfside Beach

Early firearm developers used various methods to sight their rifles, but none were as reliable and efficient as a beam of light directed through a lens. In 1876, Danish scientist Ole-Johan Sverdrup designed an early air-cooled rifle barrel with a metal target gallery that allowed him to fire off rounds directly at the target without having to reload. This weapon was known as the "Sverdrup Rifle." In 1911, American inventor George Johnstone developed and patented a device called the "Johnstone Gun Sight." The Johnstone Gun Sight consisted of two lenses connected by an annular ring. The rings served as guides forighting ammunition onto the Berger Bullets fired from a revolver. The vision range was about 100 yards (91 meters). Unfortunately, this gun sight also suffered from several problems: it required expensive optics, could not be mounted on military rifles until after World War I had ended, and ultimately was not very successful. Meanwhile, in France, engineer Henri Poincaré had been working on his own version of the air-cooled rifle barrel design that he named the "Poincaré Rifle." However, due to World War I's hostilities and lack of resources, Poincaré's project did not progress beyond prototype stage until 1917. Upon its completion in 1917, Poincaré's new rifle barrel became one of the most promising weapons available during World War I. He eventually licensed his invention to American manufacturer Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRA) and produced what is now known as the Winchester Model Army Carbine. With this new weapon system in hand, American forces began operations in Europe in November 1918 and soon found themselves challenging European counterparts such as Germany and Austria for control over major battlefields across Eurasia. postwar years saw continued development of laser sights technology by many manufacturers including Heckler & Koch AG (HK), Beretta AG (Beretta M4), FN Herstal SA (FN Five seven), Colt AR15/M16 pistols etc... Many advances were made during these years such as useable white light instead of red or violet light which led to increased accuracy while still maintaining affordability relative to other sighting devices available at that time
In 1959, the US Patent 6,840,451 was issued to Eric Holmberg for a telescopic sight that incorporated an adjustable lens. This technology would later be used on the Barrett M1 rifle.
