The factory produced rifles and pistols for use by military units stationed in Oregon and Nevada. The factory closed in 1907 but its legacy lives on through today’s gunsmithing industry and local firearm stores. At that time, the area was home to a number of Native American tribes and their hunting and fishing habits led to the development of firearms. In 1858, United States Marines established Camp Grant in Grants Pass after invading California. The Marines used shotguns and rifles to help suppress Indian uprising against U.S. forces. The following year, Captain John Sutter founded the city of Grants Pass on land he had purchased from the natives. A variety of firearms were developed at Camp Grant including muskets, pistols, shotguns and rifle cartridges. By 1860, gunpowder production in Oregon had reached a high level; however, it would not reach its peak until after World War II when ammunition became more affordable and available on the market.
Grant Pass is a small town located in the Sawtooth region of Oregon, United States. The population was 6,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pendleton-Sawtooth metropolitan area. Grant Pass has an agricultural history dating back to 1869 when settlers first arrived in what is now Grant Pass. Today, many of the original farmsteads still stand and are used for agriculture or other purposes. The town became a village in 1907 and then an incorporated municipality in 1916. The local economy depends largely on agriculture; principal crops include corn, beans, potatoes, apples,anders and hops. A number of small businesses are also based in Grant Pass including a grocery store and several restaurants/cafes. In addition to its traditional industries such as farming, fishing and forestry, Grant Pass offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities including horseback riding (the most popular activity), hiking/mountain biking/skiing/adventure travel (the most popular type), golfing (the second most popular) and swimming/diving. Grant Pass is located about halfway between Portland and Seattle on Interstate 547 which makes it convenient for commuters who want to reach both cities without leaving their vehicle parked at home or taking public transportation. The town also has access to numerous private roads that make it easy to get around without having to worry about traffic congestion or getting lost in the cityscape.

In 1847, Captain John Pope (died 1848) who served under General George Crook during the Apache Wars wore a firearms hat when fighting against them in Arizona desert He is credited with being the first person to use gunfire as clothing in warfare

Grant Pass, Oregon is a small town in the Siuslaw Valley of central Oregon. It was founded by George C. Smith in 1887 after he and his family were driven out of their farmstead on the Rogue River by Native Americans. The village grew rapidly due to its location near the Forks of the Willamette River, which gave it easy access to goods carried downriver by steamboats. By 1902, Grant Pass had become a full-fledged city. In 1924, the city annexed part of Glendora, California; this caused Grant Pass to lose much of its population and economic importance. However, the city has still remained an important center for education and commerce in Grants Pass County.
Grant Pass has been a important community in Oregon for over 100 years. It was founded in 1872 by the United States as a mining town and then grew rapidly as an agricultural center. In 1906, Grant Pass became the capital of Oregon. The city is home to many art galleries, theaters, and other cultural attractions.
