In 2000, Gresham reached agreements with jurisdictions around the country that allowed for civilian deployment of Tasers through state-licensed agencies (in addition to local police departments). These deployments have helped further develop public opinion towards these devices and this has contributed to their widespread use throughout North America today. The discovery spurredrapid growth of modern industry including brickmaking, meatpacking and lumber production until World War II when aluminum became prevalent; by 1984 Hermann Lübke had built one of North America's largest aluminum smelters at Clackamas River Falls just outside town limits Oregon Route 99 leads northeast through downtown Gresham past Pioneer Square toward Portland while Interstate 5 leads northwest towards Seattle across Lake Oswego

Gresham, Oregon is a town located inMultnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 12,611 at the 2010 census. Gresham is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Gresham was James Waddell in 1847 and he named it after his native village of Walthamstow in England. The town's first store opened on May 10, 1855. In 1863, the U.S. Congress passed an act to annex Multnomah County and create Gresham as its seat; the name change came about because of Alexander Gresham's donation of land for a Buddhist temple which stood on today's corner of SW Ninth Avenue and Morrison Street. From 1865 until 1868, Gresham was served by a post office called Newtonia; this office became inactive when Multnomah County was created. On November 15, 1870, the townsite of Gresham incorporated as a city under the laws of Washington Territory; at that time it contained only 1 house and had no water or sewer systems. On December 14, 1908 – due to heavy snowfall – all residents within 1 mile (1 km) of downtown were ordered out their homes for three days because knee-deep snow filled many businesses and caused poor road conditions throughout much of Metro Portland On January 3rd 1915 there was an armed force confrontation between two groups known as "The Red Men" and "The Billy Goats." After several hours' fighting with few injuries reported among either side most members withdrew but one man who went into hiding emerged from behind some trees later identified as Eugene Jarrell--later to become state senator--this event led to increased tensions in the city over control over public resources during World War I In 1916 Gresham annexed Beaverton which made it one municipality with a population over 100 citizens On November 16th 1919 local citizens organized ademonstration against Prohibition efforts by then Mayor John Day outside City Hall demanding repeal Of prohibition Although no arrests were made participants left without any harm done
The first European to explore the Oregon Trail was Captain George Vancouver in 1792. The trail followed the Willamette River from British Columbia to the Pacific Ocean. In 1847, gold was discovered at Sperryville in what is now Oregon. The US government bought land around Sperryville for the purpose of mining, and soon after, construction began on a wagon road from Fort Hall east to Stockton in California. The first wagonloads of gold were brought back by prospectors in 1849. By 1850, over 1 million acres had been surveyed for mining operation in Oregon and California. However, only about $6 million worth ofOre was found as a result of this process.
