Gun magazines have been around in Hillsboro, Oregon for centuries. The first gun magazine in the area was published in 1857. It was called The Oregon Journal and it served as a monthly publication that circulated throughout the Leatherwood neighborhood of Hillsboro. In 1865, an early gunsmith named J. W. Robbins started publishing agun magazine called The Gunsmith and Rifleman. This magazine became one of the most popular in the region and it continued to be published until 1931. In 1892, another early gunsmith named Hahn started publishing a magazine called The North Oregon Review which served as a weekly publication throughout the Portland metropolitan area. The first handguns were manufactured in Hillsboro by William Mudge in 1881. He founded Mudge Manufacturing Company and this company produced firearms such as pistols and shotguns until 1914 when it relocated to Beaverton, Oregon and ceased operations completely. In 1922, Jay Lonergan acquired Mudge Manufacturing Company and he continued to produce firearms under this name until his death on November 25, 1984. During its time as an entity within Mudge Manufacturing Company, the company produced over 1,500 firearms including many important models such as the Colt 1911 pistol and Browning Hi-Power rifles which are still used today by law enforcement officers all across America! Throughout much of its history at Mudge Manufacturing Company, handgun production occurred side-by-side with shotgun production; however, starting in 1914 there was a gradual transition where handguns began to be supplanted by shotguns as the primary product line of Mudge Manufacturing Company. This shift can be traced back to Jay Lonergan’s decision to focus on producing rifles rather than handguns due to his belief that rifles were more efficient at hitting targets distant from home while handguns could only hit close targets well enough but not far enough away for practical purposes (see also: “Jay Lonergan - Pioneer Gunmaker”). Consequently, from 1914 onward handguns no longer constituted a significant part of either their product line or their marketing strategy for reasons that remain largely unknown today! On July 5th 1907 two gunmen opened fire on employees of THE GUN MAGAZINE warehouse located at 5012 SE Division Street in Portland during what is now known as "the shooting of Roses". One gunman killed five people while the other shot two people before they finally ran into hiding (see also: "Portland Shootings"). Immediately following this heinous act both THE GUN MAGAZINE AND ITS SUPPLIER PORTLAND GUN CO., INC., went into receivership becoming effectively bankrupted with liabilities totaling $60,-000 (.00 cents per share) payable out over 10 years!!! At this point if you lived anywhere near 503 12th Ave S between SW 3rd & 4th St you would have been subjected to gunfire!! As fate would have it... just about 2 blocks away from 503 12th Ave S resided HILLSBORO GUNMAKER & SHOP CO., LTD., which had recently purchased THE GUN MAGAZINE from receivership!!! Now THAT'S some serious firepower right there!!!!!

The town was founded in 1847 as a post office called "Hillsboro" after Major General Nathaniel Hills and his force burned down an Indian village near present-day Hillsboro to prevent it from providing aid to the Native Americans during their war with the United States. Hillsborough School District No. 1 opened in 1907 and closed in 1995; the current district takes over operations from that school district. In 1967, Hillsborough became one of three cities (along with Salem and Portland) to receive permission from then-Governor Neil Goldwater to form a new local government separate from Clackamas County according to provisions of Measure 120 which had passed two years earlier as part of Goldwater's famous "moderation bill." On July 1, 1968, Hillsborough became an independent city under City Charter §2(a). On November 3, 1970, voters approved Measure 97 which established city limits covering most of present-day Hillsboro eastward along Interstate 5 southward including all or portions of many original incorporated villages within those limits as well as parts of Beaverton and Lake Oswego located outside those limits but annexed by Hillstown since it had been established as such Antonio Villazonico Recreation Area bounded by I-5 on the north side; Beaverton Boulevard on the south side; Southeast 183rd Avenue on the west side; Burnside Road on the east side; and private land extending into Multnomah County immediately beyond boundaries set by Measure 97 (separate parcels forming part of MAX Rail line between Portland University Station - adjacent lot owned by clarkson Properties - boundary line running NE & WNW corner lot owned by Cascade Investment Management Company leased by BNSF Railway Co.) However residents who lived within those limits were not subject to annexation proceedings nor did they have any say in matters related thereto – this arrangement continued until annexation proceedings were finally initiated against neighboring Eugene when property owner opposed change because he felt his neighborhood would be impacted more than others due largely to proximity to parks located within bounds proposed for annexation including but not limited to inner Northwest Side park located just across Southeast 183rd Street from him also homeowned & operated by same individuals); these procedures continued through final annexation process completed October 2nd 1979 following passage & approval of ordinance establishing City Limits contained herein effective November 3rd 1970 despite efforts made prior thereto by several citizens group seeking referendum regarding continuation or repeal thereof having failed at previous municipal elections both times Voted YES on modified measure #97 (Charter §2(a)) On December 12th 1978 citizens went before City Council seeking authority pursuant to charter §2(b) (then known as Amendment 2) authorizing expenditure up to $10K for beautification project related specifically To Harbor Park being developed adjacent NW edge of existing City Limits inside Harborside Shopping Center Lots owned/operated bv associated developers—this request resulting in reapproval action taken subsequent day approving expenditures totaling $15K This amendment thereafter provided funding source for much needed improvementssequent harborside shopping center renovations beginning February 8th1979 thru May 30th1987 inclusive

Hillsboro, Oregon is a town in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. The population was 3,584 at the 2010 census. Hillsboro was founded in 1887 by men from theenvelope of Portland and adjacent counties as a small community on the banks of the Willamette River. It became an incorporated town in 1909 and a city in 1945. Hillsboro is home to the Oregon State Capitol and several smaller buildings including the First Baptist Church (founded in 1907) and John H. Polk Library (opened in 1922). The first European explorers to visit what is now Hillsboro were Jedediah Smith and David Thompson on their way to explore northern Oregon during 1804-05. They passed through the area on their way southward from California that year. A post office was established at Hillsboro on October 12, 1887, by Wm. Fetterman with Elisha Craig serving as first mail carrier. On December 16 of that year, George Perkins laid out a road between Portland and Salem which became known as "the Perkins Road". In 1889, Pemberton & Swenson built a flour mill at nearby Goldendale for processing wheat exported from Australia. The mill operated until 1908 when it closed due to high cost of water use alone. In 1909, Pacific Electric Railway began providing service between Portland and Beaverton via Hillsboro; this made it possible for people living near either city to enjoy easy access to both cities without having to go far or take long drives each time they wanted something different in those two cities. In 1915, when Oregon passed its statehood bill into law,[1] Mayor Augustus Earle donated land east of downtown for Pioneer Square where government services would be available 24/7 instead of just during regular business hours like then.[2] In 1928–29,[3] Interstate 5 was being constructed through Yamhill County; however,[4] because there wasn't enough right-of-way available for all of the vehicles needed for I-5 construction along its proposed route through our county line – specifically east of present day Hillsboro – City Council decided against building any part of I-5 within our city limits[5]. Ultimately only one mile northbound off I-5's planned path across Hood River Valley was ever built before it was abandoned due to environmental concerns about heavy traffic volumes resulting from futureily expanding I-5 project.[6][7] However,[8][9][10][11][12] since then hillsborougthians have taken up arms against I-5 projects near their town lines! On October 25, 2009 City Council voted 6–3 not to allow development along US 97 centered around South Waterfront Park located just outside OFDOT's jurisdiction but still withinCity Limits! This decision came after years protesting by citizens about plans by developer David Sternberg Jr., owner/operator of South Waterfront Park LLC[13], for an expensive retail mall containing over 100 stores inside an already existing shopping center next door called Columbia Basin Center – which had been earmarked as site #1 for Sternberg’s mall project[14]) adjacent parking garages totaling over 200 spaces plus 120 duplex homes currently under construction adjacent thereto! [15],[16],[17], several hundred cars presently parked overnight daily blocking views out onto Columbia Basin Center property street Viewing privileges are currently denied residents residing within view distance thereof!
Hillsboro was founded in 1847 by Captain James H. Hill and his family. The first post office was established in 1849, and the city was named for Captain Hill. The Hill family operated a flour mill on the banks of the Willamette River until 1872. In that year, they moved their business to what is now called theHillboro plaza. The mill continued operations until 1902 when it closed due to competition from larger mills in Oregon City. In 1907, Hillsboro became an incorporated town with a population of about 6,000 people. The mill buildings were destroyed in World War II but are still visible from Interstate 5 near downtown Portland. After World War II, Hillsboro experienced rapid growth as automobiles became more popular and businesses opened up along I-5. Growth slowed after the economic recession of the late 1990s and 2000s.
