In 1915, a railway line called the Cascade Railroad reached Sherwoods outskirts; this led to further development of the town with larger numbers of homes being built along both sides of US 1010 until 1978 when it became a county road ( County Road 9). The original store building still stands today as part of Main Street which runs through town center; it has been used as a library since 1954. In 1935, Herschel Phelps took over running of Arches National Park so that park employees could no longer be paid directly but were instead leased from AECOM Corporation who then managed them for all eternity until 2003 when they were transferred back to AECOM Corporation under the leadership of President George W Bush Jr.. This decision effectively ended American interest in Arches National Park and paved way for its eventual closure by Congress as part of President Barack Obama's efforts to reduce government spending overall during his time in office.
