In 1907, the city of Tigard became a census-designated place (CDP). It had a population of 33 people when it did so. In 1970, the CDP had a population of 137 people. From 1970 to 2000, the median household income in the CDP was $862. On July 1, 2001, the CDP lost its Census Designation and became an unincorporated community known as Tigard Township. On that date, it had a population of 68 people living in 14 farmsteads and 4 businesses. The township is now part of Eugene

The town quickly grew to become a major city, and by 1881 it had reached its present size. In 1925 Tigard became the first city in Oregon to be granted a charter from the state legislature.
