John III founded what would become Baldwinville on February 14th, 1822 when he setteled land grants near present day downtown Gettysburg Township east of Monongahela River and south of State Road 1077 (now US Route 11). The original four stores were built just north of where they are now located: store #1 behind First Presbyterian Church; store #2 on State Road 1070 (now US Route 11); store #3 at Quaker Bridge over Monongahela River; and store #4 on Old Main Street (later Harding Avenue). Store #4 closed down around 1906 but it is still preserved as part of Second Presbyterian Church which sits atop it today. In 1951 local resident Carroll Wills erected a large wind turbine farm off Baldwinsburg Rd., which became an important factor contributing to development around the community over ensuing years including restaurants/bars/cafes developing along Third Street including The Grapes & Grains restaurant; multiple housing developments popping up starting around 2000 sqft.; businesses like PNC Bank opening up shop adjacent to IKEA beginning about 2005; new Wilson High School being built within walking distance starting about 2007 ... etcetera etcetera etcetera etc... This effectively created one big "downtown" that's constantly changing with various businesses open several times per day 365 days per year!
