When night fell, these signals could be heard from miles away and served as a warning for other hunters who might be looking for prey. In 1872, John H. Griggs passed away and his son James took over the business run by his father. James soon discovered that he had an affinity for making firearms and began manufacturing high-quality rifles and shotguns at his shop. By 1923, James Griggs had turned his attention to handgun manufacturing and started producing gun lights under the name of Grigg’s Gun Lights Incorporated. His products quickly became well-known throughout the area due to their quality andDurability. In 1954,Grigg’s Gun Lights merged with Winchester Arms Company to form Winchester Ammunition Corporation which still produces firearm lights today!

Coatesville is a census-designated place in Blair County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in Coatesville was Robert Pugh who arrived in 1784. He and his wife, Catherine, founded a small farm on what is now East Green Street. Their only child died young and Robert married Sarah Henningsen soon after his return to America from England in 1785. They had six children: four daughters and two sons; one died young at age 20 years old while serving with the U.S. Army during the American Revolution; the other three survived to adulthood and all became farmers or professionals: John C., James A., and David M.. The last two were natives of North Carolina and later moved to Blair County where they raised their families until their deaths in 1928, 1948, and 1975 respectively. By 1830 there were ten households within one mile (1 km) of Coatesville proper – three farms/ranches, five mills (one owned by James A.] operations), one storehouse/barber shop, two churches ( Swedish Lutheran [now Baptist] & Methodist), seven blacksmiths/forge masters’ shops (six located along Green Street alone), four tax assessment assessors’ offices - including that for Abraham Harris - as well as local cooperatives such as a bakery operated by Peter Kuzma from 1827-29;[5] a blacksmithing school attended by twelve boys from 1800-1830;[6] an academy for girls opened on Sayre Avenue in 1828 which closed about 1850 due to lack of patronage;[7] lumber yards engaged in building stone walls around town beginning about 1800,[8][9][10][11][12] grist mills used for grinding cornmeal for bread starting about 1800 also but ceased operation about 1860 or 1870 due to competition from larger flour mills established elsewhereabouts – among them those at nearby Wilkes-Barre[13], Bradford[14], Monroeville[15], Butlerstown,[16][17]), taverns like Tom Thumb’s Tavern open “til late” into the night starting before 1795,[18] dance Halls like Fenton Hall located near present day Siegel Road just south of PA Route 202 running east–west followed by dances every third Saturday night until 1865 when they stopped because “the ladies preferred country Dancing”19 – many educational institutions including a School District Normal School opened here circa 184020 – some sixty small businesses employing more than 150 people21 examined herein make up what once was an agricultural center characterized largely by its size rather than productivity22 scarcely changed since its founding until recent decades characterized herein as having lost much of its former vitality thanks primarily to suburban growth patterns across Interstate 95 immediately adjacent23
Coatesville was founded in 1753 by Hugh Coates and his family. The Coates family owned the land that now makes up the town. In 1815, Hugh's grandson, John Coates, sold the town to Abraham Lincoln.
