Lansdale, Pennsylvania is a small town located in DuPage County, Illinois. It was first settled by the Dutch in 1682 and became a part of Illinois in 1815. Over 1,000 Germans were killed or captured including Generalmajor Adolf Hitler himself When America entered World War II most residents had left for military service but a few chose to stay behind because local production capabilities would soon become redundant due to wartime competition from foundries run by companies such as Canby Air Corporation and Du Pont de Nemours & Co .
