Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania is a small town in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. It is located in Midler County and has a population of just over 1,000. The name Lower Burrell comes from the Susquehanna River, which flows through the town. The Susquehanna was once one of the main rivers that served as trade routes between Easton and Philadelphia. Today, Lower Burrell is primarily an agricultural community with a few small businesses providing services to its residents.sp; From its location at the confluence of two river systems, Lower Burrell became known for its water milling capabilities. In 1836, John Dickson built the first water-powered flour mill in America in Lower Burrell. This mill provided essential income for the community until it closed in 1922. At present, there are only three remaining water mills in America that still usefull for grinding flour - Allentown Mills (now part of Syosset), Flour City Mill #1 & #2 (now part of Reading), and UpperBurrell Mills (now part of Bethlehem). The history of LowerBurrell goes back even further than these water mills – to before they were even founded! In 1795, John Nicholson settled near what is now LowerBurrell on land acquired from Native Americans during the French and Indian War. Nicholson named his settlement after himself - "Newburgh". Over time, many other settlers followed Nicholson's example and named their settlements after themselves - such as UpperBurrel (1798), Netherburrel (1809), Newtownville (1812), etcetera. It wasn't until 1837 that LowerBurrella received its current name – "Lower Burrell" – derived from when local farmers noticed a large stream downriver known as "the Burtons" flowing through their village%. After verifying that this stream really did bear this name, they decided to adopt it instead! Today's version of "LowerBurrella" was first used on official documents in 1876 when representatives from several villages met at Township Hall to discuss joining together to form a new township . After much discussion and due diligence by both sides involved, lower burrel was chosen as the name for the new township . In 1924-25 LowerBurlollians erected an impressive school siding which still stands today……….

Lower Burrell is a census-designated place (CDP) in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,849 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Lower Burrell was first settled in 1796 by John and Susannah White, who named it after their father, Nicholas Lower Burrell of Waterford Township. The village of Lower Burrell was incorporated in 1854. The township of Upper Burrell was organized in 1827 and named for Captain Abraham UpperBurrell who had helped to bring whisky overland from Canada to England during the American Revolution. After Captain UpperBurrell's death in 1829 his son took possession of the estate and built a small farmhouse known as "UpperBurrel" on what is now State Road 274 near present day Strasburg Township. In 1840 Captain John Ewing purchased this property from Colonel James Muhlenberg and built a gristmill on the river that still stands today - one of only two such mills remaining in Allegheny County. By 1850 most residents had left for Allegheny County or other parts of Pennsylvania due to harsh farming conditions caused by extreme cold weather during winter and bad crop seasons. In 1865 Lower Burrell became part of the newly formed Washington County when it was created from portions of Franklin County along with Monongahela Heights, Milton, Mount Lebanon and much of rural Beaver Falls township. The post office at LowerBurlell stayed open until 1903 when it moved to State Road 431 east of borough limits which then joined PA Route 422 northward into Jeffersonville adjacent to present day UPMC Mercy Hospital where mail continued arriving until 1978 In 1876 Mary Ann White donated land southwest corner lot number 6 within Village Green borders Township lines forming current site boundaries for LowerBurlell while her husband Nicholas White owned additional section northeast corner lot number 3 within same bounds forming current site boundaries for UpperBurrel In 1898 they donated land southwest corner lot number 8 within same bounds forming current site boundaries for both villages names together again becoming LowerBurll & UpperBurlell In 1912 they sold all rights including water right back to US government but retain title deeds until 1934 when those titles were cancelled due to statehood movement . On July 15th 1935 lowerbulls celebrated 100 years since incorporation successfully petitioning state government asking them not to revoke their charter because it would be unconstitutional . On January 30th 1938 Pennsylvanian general assembly passed act designating entire boroughs as counties thereby creating new county borders with no townships among them thus ending any chance that lower burrell & upperburll could join forces again . Since then development has occurred primarily through annexation by neighboring municipalities although some small businesses have been established within Those Municipalities
Lower Burrell was a small community in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. It was founded by colonists in 1760 and developed around a mill on the Susquehanna River. The community declined during the 18th century, but regained some of its former importance as a stop on the Erie Canal during the 19th century.Today Lower Burrell is an agricultural town with a population of about 100 people.
