Red Dot Sightseeing Company operates a number of tourist attractions within Munhall including the Red Dot Shooting Gallery and Museum which offers exhibits on target shooting, firearms history and more. Munhall was founded in 1836 by Hardin Cotten and his wife Nancy Belle Cotten as an agricultural community located near the present day intersection of Route 209 and Mine Road. In 1875, John J. Cronin purchased land adjacent to what is now Dodge Avenue from Hardin Cotten for $2,000 ($ today). He renamed it "Cronin Settlement" after himself and his father-in-law James Cronin (1814-1892). The first store opened on this property in 1876. In 1911, David Sells opened his sawmill here which processed lumber until 1916 when he sold it to Julius Pappus who operated it until 1954 when it closed due to economic reasons. In 1951, Pappus' son Edward bought the mill from him and continued operations until 1984 when he donated it to the Scranton– Wilkes-Barre Area Chamber of Commerce for use as a museum instead of being scrapped like most mills in that area during that time period because they were not economically feasible to renew or operate any longer due to technological advancements at that time viz digital photo lithography machines used then for printing fabric products with increased accuracy than handprinting methods available then which caused wear & tear on wooden stockades etc.). The mill still stands today next door to its original building still using its digital photo lithography machines while also displaying artifacts related thereto such as tools used here such as power hammers & chisels etc., historical costumes worn by employees back then & more! Munhall, Pennsylvania is a small town in the United States located in Luzerne County. Munhall was first settled in 1786 and incorporated as a borough on October 15, 1878. The population was 10,816 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Allentown– Bethlehem– Reading, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Munhall was first inhabited by the Lenape people who arrived from Delaware in 1681. The first buildings were built by early settlers around 1786 when John Sweeny purchased 160 acres (65 hectares) of land east of what is now Main Street and Town Hall Road. At that time, Munhall consisted of just a few homes and several hundred rods (yards) of land. In 1800, John Welsh bought additional property which included all of what is now downtownmunhall today. Welsh operated one or more tanneries throughout much of Pennsylvania during this period and local produce became known as "Welsh cheese." In 1853, James Prentice donated 100 acres (40 hectares) to the community for public use; it remains one of downtown munhall's most popular attractions today. In 1865, two brothers named William and Jesse Morrison opened their own general store on State Street near Main Street – also home to many early businesses such as hotel/motel Enterprise House and harness shop Girdleman’s Store before becoming corrupt pimps in later years).
