Nanticoke, Pennsylvania is a small town in the Susquehanna Valley of western Pennsylvania, near Harrisburg. It was founded by Increase Mennonite settlers in 1784 and was part of the recently formed Susquehanna County. From 1840 to 1849, Nanticoke was the capital of what is now Westmoreland and Northumberland Counties. The population of Nanticoke peaked at 1,500 in 1910 but has since declined modestly. However, there are several instances where scopes were used prominently in local history. For example, on July 3rd, 1801 John Fenton built his first telescope at a site west of Nanticoke on current-day State Road 23. This telescope quickly became known as "Fenton's Mill" because it supported this activity until 1861 when it burned down. Additionally, during the American Revolutionary War (1775-83), Amos Newcomb used a simple five inch refractor telescope to image British troops besieging Philadelphia while they were resting outside the town limits; this allowed Patriot forces under General George Washington to mount an effective counterattack against the British force that day! The prominence of scopes continued into the 21st century with occasional events such as The Amateur Astronomy Convention Held at Lackawanna College from Sept 6-8th 2009 which featured telescopes from all over America and Canada including one made by US Senator Pat Roberts himself!
When it comes to spotting scopes, there are a few things that everyone should keep in mind. First and foremost, make sure you have a good eye for color. This is because different scopes have different colors which can help you spot objects at a distance. Secondly, if you plan on using your scopes for hunting or bird watching, be sure to get one with an adjustable objective lens. This will allow you to change the magnification level so that you can see more detail at closer distances while still being able to view targets at a distance. Lastly, always use common sense when using your scopes. Do not try to look through them too closely or else you may end up hitting something important!
The first scopes were made in 1795 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. The use of telescopes for astronomy began in the sixteenth century and was later developed into what we now know as telescope technology. In 1670, Galileo Galilei used a telescope to see the moon. By the eighteenth century, many people had created telescopes and were using them to observe things like stars and planets. In 1802, James Clerk Maxwell invented the modern electrical coiloscope which allowed scientists to study electricity and magnetism.
Nanticoke is a small town in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,969 at the 2010 census. Nanticoke is located on the Delaware River and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. It was founded in 1757 as a trading post for French and Indian traders. Nanticoke became a municipality in 1892. The first settler in what is now Nanticoke was Nicholas Schaefer who arrived from Germany in 1757 and claimed land that he named "Newtown." He built his home on the site of present day Central Park and operated a ferry service across the Delaware River to get goods to market. His heirs sold their interest in Newtown to John Beaumont in 1814. Beaumont built two mills on the riverbank which later became known as Beaumont's Mills and Beaumont's Bridge across the river. In 1829, James Hays built a log cabin near what is now Depot Road which served as his home until his death in 1851. At Hays' death, his daughter Mary Hays took over running his business until her father's death in 1861 when it passed to her brother-in-law Isaac Morse who ran it until 1896 when it passed to her husband George Westphal who continued it until 1998 when it reverted back to its original owners - married women - under the name of Morse & Westphal Incorporated according to deeds filed with Fayette County recorder’s office dated October 11th, 1898 In 1828 Nicholas Schaefer (the first settler) erected an early mill on Duck Creek about five miles due east of where modern Raynham stands today; this mill still flourishes as Schaeffer Mill #3 today! The millstream continues below Schaeffer Mill #3 into Toeplitz Creek below Georgetown before flowing out again into Clearfield creek just south of Red Lion village thence downriver through Lewistown into Lebanon! By 1830 there were several small villages situated along both banks of Susquehanna River: Northold (now North Cheltenham Township), Southold (now South Lebanon Township), Oldtown (now Easton), Whitehall (now Whitehall Borough), Georgetown (now Georgetown Township), Lewistown (now Lewistown Borough), Rahway Junction(?), Trenton Junction(?), Sayreville Junction? Some 20 years later John Stephenson erected an early sawmill also on Duck Creek south of where current Factory Point stands today; this sawmill too still flourishes as Stephenson Sawmills #4 & 5 today! According to one source “ numerous other early businesses were conducted at or near Nanticoke including blacksmithing, wagon building, baking powder making etc., but these have all faded away over time” When Benjamin Franklin moved from revolutionary Pennsylvania upriver along with others during the American Revolution he may have considered moving back downstream but ultimately decided against it because upstream settlements had already been established and he wanted more space for experiments with electricity/trees/water power etc... After independence we see various attempts by individuals new or returning settlers trying unsuccessfully to establish themselves inland beyond what had been available prior including two grants issued by James Knoppers president of Pennsylaniairovestment Company….. A group led by Reverend Samuel Johnson attempted settlement at what would become Lackawanna Crossing but they encountered opposition from nearby farmers so they abandoned their attempt after four months… In 1790 John Forbes set up shop along what is now Spring Street between Market Square and Fort Pitt Circle…. Four years later Forbes purchased 2 1/2 acres west side of Market Square from Samuel Johnson for $200…. This location became known thereafter as Forbes Streets….. By 1800 only 9 people lived within walking distance of forks of Susquehanna River: 4 families living off hunting leases granted by Governor Morris southeast thereof; 2 families living off grants given by General Howe southwest thereof; 2 families residing within 10 miles either side thereof…. Soil exhaustion caused many people unable or unwilling to continue farming especially after heavy rains leading some buyers/ sellers among those remaining mainly furriers purchasing additional farmland eastward along Susquehanna Rivers main channels…….. Most notable individual farmer remaining past 1800 was Abraham DeWitt Jr., owner/operatorof Bellefonte Factory Complex beginning around 1800″ In 1797–98 Reverend Samuel Johnson established a Presbyterian church at present day Spring Street – Spring City – following recommendations made by President George Washington while visiting Philadelphia that such an establishment be made possible “to prevent dissensions among Christians ensuing out of differences respecting religious services” Samuel Johnson also lobbied hard for Senators George Washington and Thomas Jefferson not only because he felt their influence could help sway Congress towards ratification rather than allow Britain full control over America but also because he believed such acts would make him very rich if successful… When news reached Philadelphia that British forces had attacked Long Island Colony they quickly dispatched USS Constitution squadron commanded by Captain William Kidd into action against HMS Guerriero thereby thwarting any British plans for invading America even though Kidd sustained serious wounds during engagement….. Commodore Edward Preble sent USS Constitution instead under Rear Admiral Amos Kendall relieve Kidd whose ship eventually returned safe without losses…… Commodore Preble thought highly enough about Kidd’s command ability that upon learning about Adams decision not replace him CommodorePreble replacedAdams with Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter………… Commander Dixon Porter realized that if Americans ever did get word out thereaboutKidd’s involvement then everyone aboard ship would likely be captured so instead Porter ordered all hands return immediately sickbay Secure Deck Area no exercise allowed inside nor outside deck area….. On July 4th 1798 USS Constitution sighted HMS Guerriero off Long Island Colony having failedTo intercept her despite repeated warning shots fired…… As soon as Constitution came close enough000 shipshotgun fire was exchanged resultinginHMS Guerriero sinkingwith most crew lost save6 seamen who managedto swim ashoreand signal friendly ships giving alarm [note: this story has been greatly exaggerated] The battle resulted in virtually decisive victory for American forces arms dealers docking @ Philipsburg port cost US$5 million dollars less than anticipated HMS Guerriero ended up being salvaged[note: actually she sank after hitting rocks reefs astern causing extensive damage] One account claims Captain Kidd deliberately triedto sinkHMS Guerriera Rather than lose valuable trade supplies vital intel WWI began Americas biggest naval campaign yet hundreds dead & wounded plus entire navy lost Many thanks go out TO Capt Wm Kidd IV US Navy plaque currently displayed on Independence Hall museum Ships History Museum www.shipsohistorymuseum .com For further information please contact Ms Linda Matson 617 345 7700 Ext 103 or email linda_matson@aol .com
There has been a long and varied history of spotting scopes. The first modern sighting scopes were designed in the 18th century, but they did not become popular until the early 1800s. Until that time, people relied on other means to watch for targets. One early inventor of a spotting scope was Nicholas-Jacques Conte, who improved on an earlier design by François-René Jeanneret. The Jeanneret telescope had two lenses that could be focused separately and used together to view objects at a distance. This allowed people to take advantage of optics to see things they would have otherwise missed. The popularity of Spotting Scopes began to grow in the 1830s when Francis Galton developed a way to use photography as a tool for tracking down birds and animals. With this technology, he was able to capture images of prey that he could then study with his microscope. This gave people the ability to see things they would have otherwise missed while watching from afar. In 1854, John Herschel created one of the earliest telescopes using objective lens technology which allowed him to observe stars at night without having any obstruction between his optics and the sky. This helped him develop astronomy as we know it today! He also helped pioneer new methods for observing astronomical phenomena such as variable stars and binary stars. Additionally, he developed techniques for studying close binaries which we still use today! By 1850, spotters had begun making use of artificial light sources like gas lamps and oil lanterns in order to observation targets up close or under artificial lighting conditions like streetlights or candles during dark nights outside! In 1885, Edison invented an electric lamp that allowed peopleto observation targets up close without having any obstruction between their optics and the sky! This made it possible for usto study Objects in detail with our naked eyes! Today, spotting scopes are still used byicians all over the world in various fields including archaeology, anthropology, physics, astronomy, engineering and more! They provide an amazing level of magnification so you can see details much closer than ever before!
The first scopes were designed in the 15th century and they were only used by astronomers. In 1854, a new type of telescope was developed which became known as a reflector telescope. The reflector telescope was able to better see objects at a great distance and it was also much more accurate than earlier telescopes.
Nanticoke was founded by Captain John Smith in 1758. It became a part of the United States in 1781. Nanticoke is home to the USS Constitution Museum and National Military Park. The town has also been known for its apple orchards, dairy products, and pork products.
The first white person to set foot on what is now Nanticoke was Nicholas de Champlain in 1608. He and his group of Frenchmen explored the area that includes parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland.
