The early days of American aviation were documented at Phoenixville when a group of businessmen organized the Provisional Aeronautics Association (PAA) on December 12th 1918 while they awaited approval from the FAA to open their own airport northwest of Pittsburgh! On April 1st 1919 PAA member George Stephenson set foot on live soil at Idlewild Airport near Buffalo Niagara Falls after completing his journey from London Heathrow Airport! The following year on April 15th 1920 First National Banks Building opened with chamber music conducted by Edwin Forrest! In 1925 Third National Bank building was built northeast of downtown that served as both a grocery store and post office; it burned down in 1951 but has been replaced multiple times since then! ATAI flew commercial long distance passenger flights into McAllister Regional Airport including trips to Lancaster Airport during World War II using Clark Airplanes!
