Department Store, which opened its doors on December 1, 1892. The store was located at 8 Smallwood Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh. In 1913, Sears-Roebuck & Co. also opened its own movie theater called the Civic Theatre on Elm Street in downtown Pittsburgh. This theater became one of the most popular cinemas in town and played features such as melodramas and silent films until it closed in 1951.
