Although there have been numerous challenges faced by St.Marys during its history - including becoming an agricultural center after being abandoned by farming families in the early 1800’s; water shortages caused by floods in 1930; economic decline beginning in the 1970’s; burgeoning population growth resulting in high levels of traffic congestion; difficult access to education for many rural residents – it has always managed to overcome them thanks to its strong community spirit and collaboration between government officials, business leaders,and citizens who are dedicated to ensuring that all their needs are met! Today, St.Marys continues to be a vibrant community where everyone comes together for good food, fun activities (including summer concerts at PNC Park), religious services on Sundays morning or evening (where Holy Mass is celebrated both before and after school), civic engagement opportunities (eBay auctions benefiting local charities or social clubs), cultural events (such as art shows and film screenings), recreational opportunities (which include golfing weekends at nearby Pinehurst Country Club or ice skating on Saturdays during winter weather),and much more!

The history of St. Marys, Pennsylvania can be traced back to the early 1800s when the area was part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland. The town was named after Saint Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. The first settlers in what is now St. Marys were Germans who arrived in 1751. They built a small farm on the present-day corner of Fifth and Market streets. In 1824, an act of Congress granted land to George Washington Smith in what is now Philadelphia for his settlement west of the Monongahela River. In 1827, Pennsylvania became a state and St. Marys became one of its many townships. By 1830, there were over 190 people living in St.Marys Township alone and it had a schoolhouse and two stores. In 1832, General William Troup set out from Pittsburgh with 5 companies of United States Volunteers to stop Indian attacks along the frontier settlements in western Pennsylvania. He reached St.Marys on October 8 and encampment was established at what is now Third Street and Market Place about 2 miles east of where current Fourth Street meets Seventh Avenue southeast of downtown Philadelphia). On November 3, 1832, General Troup's forces encountered Indians near present-day Mount Lebanon Avenue and Battle ensued; however no American casualties were reported as result Of this engagement On July 10th 1865, during World War II when Philadelphia was bombed by Japanese bombers primarily aimed at Steel Mill neighborhoods near Center City (the damage done caused over 350 fatalities), much destruction took place within blocks or so radius around Independence Mall including 50% loss or more brick buildings within five blocks radius; entire eastern section between Broad Street & Juniper Streets lay completely devastated with nothing but twisted metal & shrapnel remaining standing
The first settler in what is now St. Marys, Pennsylvania was George Washington who founded the town in 1781. The area that would become St. Marys was part of Huntingdon County until 1837 when it became part of Delaware County. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Union troops burned down the courthouse which was then replaced by a more permanent structure two years later.
