Ammunition has been a part of the East Ridge community for over eighty years. The first shot heard in the area was fired from a cannon on Fort Donelson in 1814. Ammunition production began in 1828, and ammo became an important factor in the development of the Tennessee Valley Authority. In 1939, ammunition manufacturing was relocated to Chattanooga from East Ridge following World War II. Today,East Ridge is home to some of the largest ammunition manufacturing facilities in Tennessee. The history of ammunition begins with gunpowder and cannonball production on Long Island in 1664 by John Duryea and others for King George III’s army during the English Civil War. Gunpowder production resumed after Queen Anne's War (1702-13) but it was not until 1795 that artillery powder became available at a price competitive with cannonballs and ballistae imported from Europe. In 1828, Colonel James Mclntyre founded Knoxville Arsenal, which manufactured rifle cartridges using black powder instead ofgunpowder. Rifle balls were first used against Indians during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). By 1861 rifle cartridges had largely replaced cannonball projectiles as the primary munitions used by armies around the world because they could travel much further without being affected by weather or other factors such as wind direction or speed. During World War I, Knoxville Arsenal produced 1 million rounds per day for use by both American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) and British Army troops fighting on both sides of conflicts including trenches and skies above battlefields across Europe and North Africa where machine guns were powerful opponents: “Ammunition factories turned out more than five billion rounds of all types – shotshells, grenades, mortar shells – each year between 1914 and 1919 alone... munition production reached its peak before World War II” (Kramer). Although gunpowder no longer played an essential role as munitions due to advances made through bullet progression technologies such as propellantless explosives developed during World War II Ammo manufactures have continued to produce vital equipment components for military forces around the globe ever since

Hogg ordered the construction of a new arsenal at East Ridge in order to arm his forces with better ammunition. The new arsenal was built and opened for business in 1868. It became one of the largest arsenals in Tennessee and its products helped improve gunnery skills throughout the Confederacy. The original settlers were farmers and their families who gathered around a cabin on what is now Main Street to trade goods and make deals. East Ridge's founders believed in hard work and opportunity for everyone, so they built schools, churches and businesses to help support their community. over time, East Ridge grew into a thriving small town with its own ZIP code and police department which has supported many local events over the years including the annual rodeo which takes place at Fairgrounds Park each fall. Today, East Ridge remains an agricultural center with dozens of farms producing hay, vegetables and other crops; as well as several lumberyards that produce paneling and other products for homebuilders or other special applications such as boatbuilding or medical implants. There are also several wineries located throughout the village; making it one of most wine-producing areas in Tennessee outside of Napa Valley California. East Ridge is a small community located in central Knox County, Tennessee. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. East Ridge is bordered on the north by the town of Lenoir and on the east by rural land. It is part ofKnoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now East Ridge were farmers who began farming in 1825. The first post office was established in 1827, and the first store was opened in 1829. In 1870, John C. Wright founded Wright Drug Company in East Ridge which became one of Knox County's largest businesses. The Wright Drug Company manufactured drugs such as aspirin and laudanum until it closed its doors in 1984. In 1913, Willis Fenton built a dam across the Little Tennessee River to provide water for his farmstead and other properties near present-day East Ridge. That same year, he donated land to the city of Knoxville for use as an open space park known as Fenton Park today. In 1923, Driggs Brothers橋原田 opened a grocery store on their property which remains one of East Ridge's most popular businesses today. In 1940, during World War II, many residents of East Ridge served in the military or were drafted due to high demand for manpower during that time period throughout America due to several factors including World War I and II being fought concurrently and rationing being rampant at that time caused many families to choose not to have children or send them off into combat because they believed it would be too dangerous for them personally given how much resources were needed back then justto keep up with Europe's war effort! After World War II ended, many residents from East ridge returned home exhausted from all things wartime; however some continued working at various local businesses through economic redevelopment efforts spearheaded by Mayor Bill Gibson beginning around 1957 when he took office after serving two terms as county commissioner under previous mayor Sam McGee! After years of planning and hard work by both Mayor Gibson and City Manager Don Hinton (now retired), large blocks of development called "The Hill" were completed within minutes OF each other between 1961-1969 making Eastridge one step closer becoming "a consolidated municipality". It wasn't until after numerous complaints about noise coming from The Hill from nearby residents living below its surface concrete sidewalks that Councilman Don Hinton introduced legislation designed specifically addressing this issue naming it "Hinton Park", providing more than $200K towards soundproofing/maintenance costs since its inception while also prohibiting any further construction without prior council approval! During its inaugural meeting held on November 14th 1962 there were only 7 members present compared to present day where over 100+ individuals often attend events hosted at Hinton Park including recent concerts conducted there like Bob Dylan & Bruce Springsteen!!! As mentioned earlier "The Hill" experienced numerous problems with illegal dumping starting immediately following implementation although recently solved thanks largely to funding provided by private individuals or foundations supportive Of urbanilty initiatives! Consequently along with others I observed during my visit - attended public hearings - laws have been changed & better understanding has occurred among government Officials regarding Community Development Initiatives...thus giving credibility & assurance TO THE COMMUNITY THAT ITS voice WILL BE HEARD AND RESPECTED
East Ridge is a small town in Sumner County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area and is located on the eastern edge of the Chattanooga Hills. The community was founded in 1871 by men who came from Eastville, Virginia. They named their new settlement after Ridgefield Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The first post office was established in 1872 and served until 1903. In 1907, a school was built and it operated until 1956. In 1916, a railroad station was built for the Cumberland Railroad which served as the community's primary means of transportation until 1945 when a highway replaced the railroad connection. In 1954-1955, an experimental nuclear power plant operated at nearby Lookout Mountain near Lookout Tower produced electricity for residents of East Ridge for the first time since World War II. There are several businesses within East Ridge including Asphalt Emporium which has been in business since 1957; Blackburn Hardware & Equipment which opened its doors in 1958; Jack Daniels Distillery which opened its doors in 1959; and Westmoreland Farms which began operations in 1961). There also is an elementary school (Eastridge Elementary), Middle School (Eastridge Middle), and High School (Eastidge High) located within the town limits
