It is bordered to the north by Mount Pleasant and to the east by the town of Florence. According to the 2010 census, East Ridge has a total area of , of which is land and (2.5%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 559 people, 231 households, and 145 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 17 people per square mile (6/km²). There were 248 housing units at an average density of 10 per square mile (3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 94% White; 2% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 1% from other races; and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3%.

With this change came a shift towards bigger calibers (primarily .45 ACP) and increased firepower (although some handguns still utilized smaller caliber magazines). As guns became more sophisticated, so too did magazine designs – leading eventually to today’s ubiquitous handgun magazines!

East Ridge is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The first settlers in East Ridge were the Wheeler family who arrived in 1827. They were followed by the Fenton family in 1830 and then the Dyer family in 1832. In 1837, surveyors named East Ridge after General James Huchinson, commander of Ulysses S. Grant's army during the Mexican–American War. In 1861, Confederate forces under General Robert Ewell moved from Nashville to East Ridge and began skirmishing with Union forces until they retreated back to Chattanooga on July 22nd. On September 11th of that year, Confederate General Jumper ordered his men to burn down all local businesses as part of his plan to destroy any evidence that he had been defeated. Only four homes were untouched and these are now used as historical relics within town limits today. The Battle of Chickamauga was fought nearby on October 17-20th (1863) between Union Major General William Taney's brigade and Confederate Brigadier General Jubal Early's brigade; it resulted in an overall Union victory but saw many killed and wounded among both sides with East Ridge residents losing three brothers-in-law (John W., James M., and Hiram A.) along with eight sisters (Sarah A., Anna C., Martha L., Betsey B., Lucy C.), two husbands (David P., Job P.), one son (Samuel), one daughter (Maria), one grandchild (George Washington,) and six cows remained unharmed when peace returned on April 9th 1865 following a bloody five week battle which left more than 2100 dead or missing including 6 Federal officers including Generals Sherman and Grant as well as 30 state troopers also lost including 12 county sheriffs across 4 Georgia counties plus 3 members of Congress!
