Farragut, Tennessee was a small town in the middle of nowhere until the late 1800s when its citizens started buying and using firearms to defend their homes. Hilliard founded the first magazine in Farragut with the goal of helping to spread handgun usage throughout the community as well as promoting responsible firearm ownership among its residents." They believed that by teaching people how to use handguns responsibly they would be less likely to become victimizers or perpetrators of crime." In later years, other members of this inaugural team would continue to help create what is now known as "the rifle magazine industry". These include Jens Pfaffenberger (1914-1996), Clyde Darden (1917-1994), Al Coker (1920-2005) and Johnnie Doyle (1921-2009). AfterAndrew Farragut died in 1865 at age 78 years old, his son James acquired much remaining interest in their cotton plantation with help from American bankers Gideons (later Jardine & Hutton). James quickly began construction on a new house and mansion called "The White House". Completed in 1870-71 it served as both home and office for many decades until demolition began following World War II. The site now serves as a public park/open air museum honoring Andrew Farragut's legacy including displays about his life and work Valley Forge Museum gift shop open daily 9am - 6pm

Farragut is located on the Cumberland River north of Chattanooga. The town has been surrounded by agricultural land since its founding, and most of the current buildings were built during the post-Civil War Reconstruction period. In 1881, Farragut had a population of 1,500 and became an important transportation hub for goods moving through the area. In March 1865, Confederate General Jubal Early advanced upon Farragut from the south and burned much of it before withdrawing to allow Union forces to enter. The burning destroyed many business establishments in Farragut but also helped give rise to what is now known as "the downtown area". In 1895, A&P Meat Market opened in downtown Farragut and remains one of Pittsburg's longest surviving businesses today. The store began as a two-story building with 85 feet (27 m) of width and 54 feet (17 m) of height; it eventually grew to a four-story structure with 420 square feet (39 m2) of floor space. It closed in 2006 after years of decline due to competition from local Walmart stores and other retailers within walking distance. Farragut is home to several churches including First Baptist Church which was built in 1899; Methodist Episcopal Church which was built in 1907; Stonewall Jackson United Methodist Church which was built in 1911; Assemblies Of GodChurch which was built in 1924; Presbyterian Chapel which was built in 1930; African American Baptist churchwhichwasbuiltin1933and remained active until its closure in 1984 There are also several schools located within walking distance: Damon Elementary School open from Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade; Middle Tennessee State University campus located just east sideof the town limits offering undergraduate degrees such as Business Administration/Commerce/Biology/Law enforcement/ Veterinary Medicine/Equal Opportunity Studies programs along with graduate degrees such as Fine Arts & Design Management / Health Science Education./Environmental Science./Political Science./Psychology/.

Farragut was founded by Captain John Farragut in 1796, who built a small town on his wharf to serve as a trading post and warehouse for goods brought in by traders from other parts of the nation. The town grew rapidly and by 1820 it had a population of 1,500 people. In 1830, Farragut built Fort Sumter to protect Chattanooga from Any Indian raiders coming down the Cumberland River. Afterward, he became one of the most powerful men in Tennessee because he could control both Congress and the executive branch of government.
