In 1825, a man named George Washington Carver designed and constructed the first battery-operated taser. The weapon was not popular with officers because it was too dangerous to use on suspects who were unarmed. However, in 1916, Farragut County Sheriff Johnathan James developed an improved model of the taser that became known as the "Carver Gun." This weapon had a plunger device that could be pulled down to discharge the taser darts into someone's flesh. After Fort Donelson fell, early settlers near Farragut began to move downstream for economic reasons rather than stay put because they could not rely on military protection; this migration increased as hostilities decreased and Union troops withdrew from Tennessee in 1865. By 1870, only about 150 people lived in Farragut; by 1920 there were fewer than 100 residents remaining. In 1901-1902, local citizens successfully petitioned Congress for statehood; on July 16th 1902 passage occurred with modifications resulting from ratification proceedings that took place over Thanksgiving weekend 1902-03 due to partisan politics within the United States Congress during that time period. On December 12th 1904 Governor Jeptha Meeks signed act 25-1 which granted incorporation to Farragut into Johnson County effective January 1st 1905 under a new name - "Farrago". At this time there were 2 churches (First Baptist Church & Methodist Episcopal Church) with 165 occupants living therein however both have since closed down due to lack of support or other events taking place within our community during those years which led us all away from God’s love & care we experienced back then………..It seems like even though most everything changed around here within just a few short years some things haven’t really changed all that much either…………….Today we are still looking for ways to bring our Lord back into our lives as often as possible through His word & example but we also realize that his presence will be found wherever good people are gathered together……………………………………………………………..
