As a result of these factors, growth continued unabated until Reconstruction began in America following World War II; during this time period much of what is now known about life inside or outside of downtown Franklin took form including many historically significant buildings like State Capitol Building which still stands today (it replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed during Reconstruction).
