Goodlettsville is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. Binoculars were first developed in Goodlettsville by its early pioneers as a way to improve their hunting and fishing opportunities. By 1878, binoculars had become so popular that they were being used for general observation as well as for military purposes during the American Civil War. In 1865, Goodlettsville became the site of the first international telescope meeting ever convened in North America when delegates from twenty-six countries gathered there to discuss scientific matters related to astronomy and astrology. Today, binoculars remain one of the most popular optical devices used by amateur astronomers around the world due to their wide field of view and ease of use.

Goodlettsville was founded in 1851 by John Goodlett and his wife Elizabeth (née Huff). The name comes from the nearby good land which John bought with money he had saved from working as a farm hand. In 1892, Goodlett built the first schoolhouse in what is now Goodlettsville. Although it has been replaced many times over the years, Goodlettville's original two-story wooden building still stands on Main Street today. Goodlettsville began to grow rapidly after World War II when new housing developments were constructed near the downtown square. After years of growth and development, however, some residents began to complain about high traffic levels and inadequate infrastructure in their hometown. Consequently, in 2007 Goodlett's organization organized a referendum to determine whether or not they should secede from county government and form their own municipality. The referendum passed with nearly 90% of voters supporting secession; however, because no action was taken following the vote, goodlettsville remains within Hardin County until this day. Today, GoodLETTSVILLE enjoys wide acclaim for its arts scene including various music festivals such as CMJFest & TNLive respectively every year throughout July/August - Thursdays at 3pm sharp! And we also have an annual Pumpkin Festival EVERY OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
