Goodlettsville is a town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 7,726 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1868 as a small community of about 120 people. Goodlettsville became an incorporated municipality in 1907. Goodlettsville is located on the Cumberland River and is part of the Nashville–Davidson metropolitan area. The first red dot sight that was developed and used in Goodlettsville was an American Rifleman Sight placed by Prentice Hall Company on July 21, 1918, when 75 students from Davidson County Junior College (now Middle Tennessee State University) were studying rifle marksmanship at a military rifle range near Goodlettsville. This sight allowed shooters to hit targets up to 100 yards away with virtually no controversy or error. Red Dot sights became popular among shooters during World War II as they simplified aiming methods for machine guns and artillery cannons while also shortening reputations of snipers who could not hit distant objects with their rifles due to lack of visibility under bad weather conditions. Today, Goodlett'sFinegoods is one of the largest wholesalers in central Tennessee and sells items such as cheese, eggs, breads, candy bars and other snacks to grocery stores throughout Memphis. Goodlettsville was laid out by James Goodlett in 1817. He named it after his birthplace - Groveland Township in New York State - but only lived there for a short time before moving to this location with his family. James' younger brother George Goodlett founded what would become Rural Telephone Company in 1865 which became one of the largest providers of telecommunications services in Tennessee until its collapse in 1998. In 1892, Jeptha Hargrave bought The Hermitage from Goodlett and developed it into an agricultural center that still exists today with more than 12 miles (19 km) of roads reaching into the surrounding farmland. Hargrave also built several homes within Goodlettsville itself along with two country churches - First Presbyterian Church (now Stitt-Goodlett Chapel Baptist Church) and Second Presbyterian Church (now Mount Carmel United Methodist Church). Additionally, he opened a school called John Hargrave School which served children from kindergarten through high school until 1984 when it merged with Central High School to form Central High School/Middle College Station Campus which now offers undergraduate coursework at nearby Lamar University as well as graduate courses at Centenary College across the street from Central High School/MiddleCollegeStation Campus. One notable resident during this time was Drayton McLemore who served as Mayor of Memphis from 1949-1953 and 1955-1959; he also founded McLemore Motorsports Park located adjacent to downtown Memphis which hosted many NASCAR races over the years including the first ever Sunday night race at Shelby Speedway on July 15th,. During World War II both The Hermitage Farmstead Dairy & Creamery and McLemore Motorsports Park were used by General Motors Corporation for their wartime production needs; good quality butter was produced there until 1951 when GM moved manufacturing operations to Decatur, Alabama following World War II . After 1945 most production stopped due to lack of demand following World War II while some continued until 1973 when GM pulled all UAW plants nationwide due to union organizing efforts . After 1975 most local processing ceased while production moved back westward to Oldsmobile factory where it continues today . Local residents have kept much of their heritage alive including holding annual Fourth Of July celebrations at The Hermitage Museum & Gardens which features traditional music & dance performances as well as exhibits on agriculture etc.. Today however much emphasis is placed on golfing & fishing within town limits where there are numerous lakes & ponds available...

Goodlettsville, Tennessee is a small town in Athens County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,972 at the 2010 census. Goodlettsville is part of the Nashville–based metropolitan area. The community began as a small log cabin community on the banks of the Nolichucky River near what is now downtown Goodlettsville. It grew rapidly in the early 1800s as cotton plantations were established in this area and many families from Georgia moved to Goodlettville to work on these plantations. From 1815-1820, there were over 100 slave houses within 10 miles (16 km) of Goodlettsville and it was known as "The Slave Capital of America". In 1847-48, John Sibley laid out much of present day Goodlettstown and developed it into an agricultural center with large fields for growing corn and tobacco. By 1865, most of what is now Goodlettstown had been developed with 4 churches and other buildings including 2 schools, a jail, a post office and 3 stores. In 1892-93 Fenton Minton built a sawmill on the river which became one of the largest in eastern Tennessee. This mill continued to be operational until 1964 when it was destroyed by fire. Goodlettstown has experienced several waves of growth over the years including during World War II when thousands of soldiers came through town looking for food or munitions; during the late 1940s through 1960s when numerous businesses opened up; during development along I-24 between Nashville and Clarksville; and again following Downtown revitalization in 2006-2007 which brought new life to much of Main Street eastward from State Streets westward

It was founded in 1857 by James Goodlett and Elijah Pritchard as a small farming community on the Cumberland River. In 1901, Goodlett's son-in-law John Denton donated land to create a town square and named it after his father-in-law, General Joseph Halleck Goodlett. Goodlettsville grew rapidly during the early 1800s due to its location on a key trade route between Memphis and Chattanooga. By 1881, the city had reached its current size with over 20 businesses and 100 residents. During World War II, Goodlett's paralysis forced him to sell most of his business assets but allowed him to continue helping run the city until his death in 1949. The City of Goodlettville was officially formed on May 1, 1955 when all of Davidson County became one municipality under the new name of "Goodlettsville".
