When Greeneville, Tennessee was first settled by Europeans in the 17th century, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into. For the most part, these new settlers were farmers or merchants who started out as small traders and eventually became landowners. One of the early pioneers in Greeneville was Simon Williamson, who founded a grocery store on Rutledge Street in 1698. Williamson also helped to found the Presbyterian Church in 1802 and is considered to be one of the key figures in that denomination’s establishment here in Tennessee. He was also an important figure within the Masonic Order, serving as Grand Master from 1810-1814. The development of holster technology during this time period was very limited. It is located in the southwestern corner of the state and is bordered by Lebanon to the north, Lookout Mountain to the east, and Memphis to the south. The first post office was established in 1824; it closed circa 1890 because there were no mail carriers available in those days. The first store opened in 1830; it closed circa 1910 because there was no such thing then as refrigeration or air conditioning. However, business continued long after those devices became available due largely to bootlegged goods brought into town by wagonloads from surrounding plantations (many of which stillexist). A cotton gin was built about 1840 but ceased operation around 1860 due to lack of capital; however, a water Works sprang up soon afterward and continues operations today despite periodic vandalism ($10 per week damage limitation donations accepted). In 1870 Glidden & Patterson organized their own mercantile interests and began stocking groceries direct from Philadelphia via their warehouse on Third Street; this enterprise continued until about 1930s when competition resulted in its closure along with most other local businesses during the Great Depression era which deeply influenced much of local life for many decades afterwards culminating with relatively recent revitalization efforts spearheaded by current city councilman Rocky Hays who also happens to be one of history's great collectors of pre-Civil War artifacts including items from Greeneville itself!

The first settlement in Greeneville Township date back to 1811 when two families from Kentucky took up land west of Nashville on the Cumberland River. A post office was established in 1814 and named for General James Blythe, who had been wounded at Battle of Princeton. By 1825, Greeneville had a school and three stores. In 1830-31, Andrew Jackson was elected President of the United States and chose Greeneville as his official home base; he used it as a headquarters for his campaign activities. Growth began quickly in Greeneville during Reconstruction after the Civil War ended; by 1870 there were ten businesses and 135 residents. In 1875 an addition to the city limits resulted in growth beyond what could be accommodated within present boundaries; today’s downtown area includes over fifty buildings dating back to that time period alone! The twentieth century brought many changes to Greeneville: its incorporation into Chattanooga in 1907 made it one of Tennessee’s largest cities; World War II halted all economic growth but did not cause any major damage to the community; afterward came rapid suburbanization with factories moving into centralowntown areas throughout the fifties until finally recently when downtown redevelopment has begun again which should result in another hundred or so residents by 2020! With such history behind it, it is easy to see why this small town has come to be known for its namesake – Forrest Gump – as well as other famous Tennesseans like Hank Williams and Bob Dylan!
