In 1907, the club acquired a new rifle factory in Lawrenceburg Tennessee and began producing rifles there. Lawrenceburg is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,927 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1851 as a small community on the east bank of the Ohio River. In 1865, it became a post office and in 1870 became a county seat. Lawrenceburg was renamed for General George Armstrong Custer in 1896. The first white people to live in what is now Lawrenceburg were farmers who immigrated from Virginia about 1851. They began to clear land and build homes there around 1865 when the area became an Indian Territory under Ulysses S. Grant's administration as part of his Reconstruction policy following the American Civil War. Lawrenceburg is a town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. Lawrenceburg was founded in 1827 by General John C. Frémont as a trading post on the Roanoke River. The settlement grew rapidly and by 1830 had a permanent population of 350 people. In 1867, Lawrenceburg became the seat of Knox County after it was separated from Fayette County. In 1871, an irrigation system was built to irrigate land around Lawrenceburg and other towns in Knox County. This led to rapid growth in Lawrenceburg and its suburbs over the next few decades until World War II halted that growth. The economy of Lawrenceburg has been based mainly on agriculture for most of its history; however, manufacturing has become more significant in recent years due to increased demand for products made in Tennessee and elsewhere outside of Lawrenceburgh's borders.
