Gun targets have been a popular pastime in Lewisburg, Tennessee for centuries. The first gun target was erected in 1892 by local citizens. Rifle and pistol matches were held at the old Courthouse every other week until 1907. From then until 1922, the University of Memphis hosted the annual World's Fairgun shoot event which drew many spectators from around the area. In 1942, the United States War Department established a Maintained Shooting Range (MSR) west of town to promote shooting sports among American military personnel stationed in nearby Memphis. The MSR became an important training ground for both rifle and handgun shooters from all over America. Gun target shoots continued sporadically at various locations throughout the war years but eventually went out of fashion due to technological advancements that made it difficult or impossible to replicate traditional target conditions indoors. The last gun target shoot in Lewisburg took place on October 10th, 1984. At that time, there were only two public shooting ranges remaining in the city- one operated by Volunteer Firefighters and another by City staff- so this was probablythe final straw for many residents who switched to using indoor range facilities instead.

Lewisburg is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1814 by General Daniel Boone and his band of soldiers as a trading post on the Cumberland River. Lewisburg grew rapidly during the early 20th century due to its location near railroad tracks and other industry. In the 1930s, Lewisburg became known for its nightlife and jazz clubs. During World War II, Lewisburg served as an airfield for V-2 missile tests at nearby White Sands Missile Range. After the war, Lewisburg experienced rapid growth as a bedroom community for Knoxville residents. However, during the 2000s,Lewisburg has seen declines in popularity due to several factors such as rising prices for real estate and an increase in trafficrelated problems.

The Model 1894 Target also had a number of improvements over its predecessor, the Winchester Model 1886 RifleTarget. For example, the Model 1894 featured an improved stock that allowed for more accurate shots at a distance. Additionally, the barrel was lengthened by 10 mm in order to reach even further intoAlias range with its larger projectiles.

Lewisburg was founded in 1829 as a small town on the Cumberland River. The area now known as Lewisburg was first settled by Scots-Irish and English colonists. By 1830, the population of Lewisburg had grown to around 100 people. In 1835, the town was renamed after General Andrew Jackson, who had been president at the time. In the early 1800s, Lewisburg was a small trading post on the Cumberland River. It became an important stop for travelers going southward on their way toullahoma or Nashville. Many farmers and traders located in and around Lewisburg traded goods with settlers living near Knoxville and Chattanooga. In 1815, General James Ketchum built Fort Loudoun in what is now downtown Lewisburg to protect his land from Indian attack. After years of construction, Fort Loudoun remained only a temporary obstacle until he surrendered it in 1818 to Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Todd Johnston, commander of Tennessee Volunteers units fighting against Federal forces under Ulysses S. Grant during the War of 1812. During Reconstruction following Reconstruction era in America (1863–1913), many African Americans were brought into work force by white landowners as sharecroppers or indentured servants in order to rebuild society after years of economic suppression by white rule during the Jim Crow period following American Civil War (1861-1865).Lewisburg’s African American community numbered about 25 people before 1865 when they were forcibly removed from its premises by order of Confederate General John C Hood along with other black residents of Knoxville and Chattanooga during that year’s Union occupation of those cities; these residents were re-erected within weeks at new locations throughout those cities without any public outcry or opposition from local citizens or civil authorities participating therein; see: “The Removal Of Blacks From Memphis And Other Southern Cities During The Union Occupation Of Memphis” - Morningside Presbyterian Church Historical Quarterly vol XXVII no 2 pp 61-89
Lewisburg was founded in 1796 by General James Wilkinson. The town served as a headquarters of the Tennessee militia during the War of 1812. Lewisburg was burned in 1814 and again in 1815, but it rebuilt and became an important commercial center. In 1861, Lewisburg seceded from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America. The town remained a Confederate stronghold until 1865, when Union forces occupied Lewisburg and destroyed most of its infrastructure.
