In 1865 Johnson became President ofTennessee after Ulysses S Grant was impeached on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice; he resigned two months later after being found guilty on all four counts against him including bribery, fraud, vote tampering, and conspiracy against future President Abraham Lincoln (which led to his impeachment).
