Millington's main shopping district is located on Elm Street near the river. The local papers are the Millington Herald and the Millington Daily Review. Millington was founded in 1825 by pioneers John and Sarah Mills as a trading post on the Cumberland River between what are now Chattanooga and Knoxville. In 1829, mill owners James Waddell and Elijah Hicks pooled their money to buy land east of Millington for a cotton gin and distillery; these became known as "The Three Hails". By 1830, mills had been built on both banks of the river, with exports to Georgia (mainly Cherokee cloth) accounting for most of milling activity untilroads were built in 1875-1876 that made transportation easier and allowed larger quantities of goods to be exported directly from Millington instead of going through Chattanooga or Knoxville. When New Deal administrator Franklin D. Roosevelt moved from Chicago in 1933 to Muscle Shoals, Alabama – where he developed his politics – he decided to move back into Hardin County after stints in other parts of Tennessee during his first term as president because it had been "the heartland of American industry." At first glance this might seem an odd decision given that Birmingham was then growing rapidly thanks to its new steel plant and heavy concentration around downtown Atlanta; but Roosevelt saw that Hardin County had remained relatively unaffected by big city noise and pollution while others were being destroyed by Depression-era economic hard times. As governor from 1936-1941 he created numerous public works projects such as dams, bridges, highways, school construction etc., which have helped maintain some level of economic prosperity throughout much of today'sMillington community—a fact often unappreciated by locals who see themselves only as "hometown boys" who have supported their town through thick and thin over many years. Today's milling communities have seen major changes over time: One group has retired while another continues working long hours with little rest or overtime; yet all members remain proud participants in their local economy which has continued to grow even during difficult times; although there has been some recent turnover due primarily to competition from more efficient mills outside town limits set up specifically for this purpose (see also: Appalachian Mountain Regional Commission).

The Brady Bill was passed in 1990 as part of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act (VICTOR). It prohibited most handguns from being imported into the US without a license and required all handgun sales to go through licensed dealerships. The bill also limited magazine capacity to 10 rounds per month. Aftermath: After passing two separate bills with similar goals but vastly different results - one that made it through president’s veto pen while letting other measures pass while under his watch-the NRA decided not to fight anymore on background check legislation
Millington is a small town located in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. It was founded in 1868 by George Milling and his family. The population of the town increased from 454 in 1880 to 1,811 in 1920. In 1951, it became part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The mills that now remain in Millington were built between 1868 and 1912. They are collectively known as the "Old Mill" mill because they were designed by H.L. Pope Jr., who also designed the first cotton gin in America. The Old Mill was destroyed by fire on January 5, 1937, but was rebuilt and reopened as a museum in 1941-1942 with many of the original mill artifacts still preserved. The mill closed again for several years until it reopened once again as a museum on December 3, 2006 after being out of operation for over 50 years
