Mount Juliet is a small town in Cooke County, Tennessee. The population was 8,500 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. In 1819, two men from Mount Juliet established a homestead on what is now known as State Route 2 near present-day Antioch. The town grew up around this early settlement and became an important transportation hub for the region due to its location at the junction of several roads and its easy access to markets in Chattanooga and other towns in the area. The discovery of natural gas resources in nearby Gasconade County led to increased manufacturing activity in Mount Juliet, which attracted businesses such as General Electric and Ford Motor Company. In 1951, when Interstate 60 was constructed through Cooke County, it bypassed Mount Juliet and replaced much of the town's commercial viability. Since then, most development has occurred within the city limits of Antioch which straddles State Route 2 between Lebanon Road and Park Avenue. Today, Mount Juliet remains a vibrant community with strong ties to its agricultural roots; many residents stillfarm their own land or remain involved in local agriculture production despite interstate highway access opportunities that have greatly changed life hereabouts over recent decades. The downtown core still contains numerous businesses including several large hotel chains; however real estate prices have stabilized somewhat since they peaked some 25 years ago while job growth has been more sporadic but steady overall throughout much of Appalachia these past few decades (see Appalachian Regional Commission map). Although there are periodic efforts by various organizations to revive some aspects of traditional mountain music or arts festivalivals hereabouts (e.g., Bluegrass Underground Festival), generally speaking these activities are not widely supported by either locals or visitors who do not find significant attraction value hereinbelow even if seen as necessary components unique to "mountaintop country" settings throughout much southern Appalachia These days one typically hears about "the great American west"/"the breadbasketofamerica" etc., etc., without ever encountering anything remotely resembling "mountain country."

Mount Juliet is a small town in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,866 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Area. The community was founded on December 12, 1811 by Major General Andrew Galloway and Captain John Sevier as a station on the Holston River for traders and travelers ascending or descending the Cumberland Plateau. In 1830, Mount Juliet became known as "the most picturesque village in Tennessee." The surrounding countryside was also used for plantations until after World War II when forestation made Mount Juliet an agricultural center. In 1922, Mount Juliet Elementary School opened with grades kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1953, it became Antioch High School which remains operational to date despite being ten years old at the time of its merger into Mount Juliet High School. Prior to that period there were two elementary schools: Eastmont (1921) and Westmont (1893). Mount Juliet first hosted a football game in 1892 against Baird Springs although they lost 5-0. Like many small towns during this time football wasn't taken seriously by most people and it wasn't until 1906 that a team called "Mighty Blue" was formed from players from both Eastmont and Westmont high schools playing against each other at Bloomfield Park outside of Chattanooga; this team still plays today as part of the Metro Conference's SWAC championships program along with Pickett High School who play their games at Pritchard Stadium across town from Thomson Middle School which also hosts their football games since 1961!

In the 1830s, Mount Juliet was a small settlement on the Cumberland Plateau in what is now Tennessee. The town was founded by Yankees who were looking for a place to winter. The area was already well known for its coal mines and other resources, so there wasn't much need for a new community. However, the settlers decided to make Mount Juliet their home and started building homes and businesses. In 1835, they organized themselves into a town government and started selling goods and services to nearby settlements. By 1840, Mount Juliet had a population of around 100 people. It continued to grow over the next several years until it reached 300 in 1850. By 1860, Mount Juliet had become an important center for coal mining and trading in eastern Tennessee.
