From this base camp York developed what would become one of America's largest cattle drives into Southwestern Oklahoma Territory during the early 1800s before moving on into East Texas full time in 1881. Most people who live around Alvin today trace their ancestry back to those who first settled hereabouts during those pioneer days; however others have also migrated hither since then looking for better opportunities elsewhere – both within our community itself and throughout much of North American society more generally speaking*. For many years prior thereto there never seemed anything special or truly unique about our community other than its location; however over time things seem like they've just been 'getting better' hereabouts* [*There are some exceptions: many locals still refer nostalgically (or even affectionately) to bad old days when life was tough & dirt poor].
