Angleton is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the El Paso–New Mexico Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Angleton were members of the Spanish expedition that explored this area in 1519. A post office was established in 1847 and named for General Antonio de Angleton, a Mexican general who fought against Santa Anna's forces during the Mexican Civil War. In 1881, the county seat was moved from El Paso to Angleton because of low populations in both communities. In 1886, anglers on Big Bend Lake discovered oil shale near present-day Angleton and began producing crude oil from it. This led to significant economic development in the town as businesses sprang up to exploit this new source of revenue. In 1926, an airfield was built on Big Bend Lake and served as a center for local aviation until it closed in 1960. The community continued to grow rapidly through annexation by other nearby towns until its incorporation as a city in 1984. Today, Angleton has become one of El Paso's most vibrant districts with its mix of cultures – Anglo-American (mostly European), Latino ( principally Hispanic Americans), and African American – along with its rich history dating back over 100 years

The photophone quickly became popular among military and government leaders because it allowed them to communicate with distant soldiers in real time. By 1875, photophones had been developed into devices that could be used for both audio and video recording. These devices soon became staples in professional videoSharing events such as film festivals and music concerts alike. It is interesting to note that despite their popularity among professionals, these devices were not originally designed for public consumption. Prior to their widespread adoption, many people primarily used photophones for personal chats or short messages while traveling within societies where cell phone service was not available or impractical.

Angleton is a town in the U.S. state of Texas, located in Renham County. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It lies on a small-town stretch of Texas Highway 281, about 12 miles (19 km) east of the city of Bastrop and less than 10 miles (16 km) west of the county seat, Renham. The community was named for General James Fenton Angleton, a Confederate general who fought in the American Civil War and later became a United States Senator from Louisiana. The Angleton post office was established in 1892, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. Angleton is one of many small settlements along Texas Highway 281 that were important to early settlers during the 19th century boom period following Reconstruction efforts after the American Civil War. In 1871, John Pemberton founded Pemberton's Mills here on what is now Angleton Road after purchasing land from pioneer Austin Hargrave. By 1880, however, anglers had become so interested in fishing here that mill owners began building their own fisheriesakovas (fishing platforms), which remain an iconic feature of this locality today. A railroad reached Angleton by way of what is now FM 19605 just south of town limits on July 8, 1901; railroads increasingly played an important role throughout much rural Texas during this time period and led to increased trade and transportation opportunities withinRenhamCountyand beyond. The first post office at Angleton opened on October 14th 1902 under name "Cedar City". A few years later a store added to business holdings with US mail service being available through local Baptist clergyman Rufus Kingberry who operated his business outfitted as a letter carrier between Bastrop &renham &HoustonTXPhone: 546-860-4004). In 1916 Wm Crain started construction on Aggregates Company Mill #2 which becameRenHAMHigh School's 2nd Building erected 1915 with Wm Craigs Sons plumbering services also available thru out school District at that time
Angleton started as a small farming town in 1873. The community was named for General Sam Houston, who led the Texas Revolution against Mexican rule. In 1907, Angleton served as the capital of Hardin County.
