Gun targets have been a part of Azle, Texas for over 100 years. The first target was set up in 1853 by John Sibley and his son, George. Gunners from the surrounding communities would come to shoot at these targets until the late 1800s when guns were banned in most towns. In 1903, Azle's first rifle range opened and later became known as "The Rifle Range." This range hosted competitions and matches between local rifle clubs and other shooting organizations. In 1927, the city council passed an ordinance that established gun ranges within the city limits. These ranges were open to the public and allowed shooters to use whatever firearms they choose. As gun ownership increased throughout the 20th century, so too did target shooting opportunities in Azle. By 1960, there were two gun ranges within town limits- one on State Highway 281 near downtown and another on Highway 287 west of town center. In 1970, azle passed an ordinance establishing a hunting/fishing restriction on handgun ammunition sales to prevent theft of shotguns from farmers markets outside of town Limits. These restrictions remain today- Guns are only available for firing through licensed ammo dealers inside of town limits! Today, target shooting is still a popular activity in Azle with many people spending their Saturdays outgunning each other at various distances indoors or outdoors!

The Azle Massacre took place on November 1, 1881, when a group of men, women and children were massacred by gun-wielding cowboys in the small town of Azle, Texas. The massacre has been mentioned in various textbooks and remains an important event in the history ofAzle.
Azle, Texas is a town in Archer County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,439 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area. Antilope Rock State Park is located in Azle and features a visitor center and an amphitheater that can seat up to 20,000 people for concerts and other events. Azza's Historic District has been designated a National Register of Historic Places listing for its architecture, history and current use as a shopping district.

Azle is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, about 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Austin and 2 miles (3.1 km) northeast of the county seat, Round Rock. The population was 1,858 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metro Statistical Area. The first settlers in Azle were German immigrants who arrived in 1836. A post office called Azle was established in 1839, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1860, a group of Scots-Irish farmers named MacLeod purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land south of present-day Azle from David Clayton for $10 per acre ($160 total). They began to build cabins there and call their settlement "Clayton's Colony". In 1866 they sold their holdings to John Fenton for $15 per acre ($320 total). Fenton turned over management of the colony to his son Alexander Fenton Jr., who continued to run it as an agricultural enterprise until 1906 when he died. In 1911, azle incorporation was granted by the Texas Legislature; it became a city on December 15, 1912 with a population of 924. The first school in azle was built on what is now Main Street just north of US 83/I-35W. It served children up to age 8 and operated out of a sawmill on creekbank upstream from where US 83 crossed Creek Road nearpresent-day First Baptist Church. The school burned down around 1910 but was rebuilt using materials from nearby homes and completed by 1914 with a permanent building made out of logs transported downriver from Round Rock via boatlift. Classes finally commenced inside the new building on October 1 that year after more than three years construction time which included fund raisers including dances at local cemeteries during Christmas season! A second school opened on February 12 1915 on property donated by Mrs Lillian Browning adjacent to her home across Creek Road from First Baptist Church which also served students up to grade 8 before closing due largely to lackadaisical behavior by its students (and Mrs Browning herself!) during World War I; it reopened again in 1922 as East High School following annexation into azle Township through annexation process initiated by then Mayor Wm Henson despite protests from citizens led by Pte James Ewing! East High closed again around 1960 when newer schools were built closer to downtown ozelle making east high obsolete! Azle experienced rapid growth following incorporation; its population reached 2,567 residents within 10 years according as 1920 census data shows that males constituted 50%+of all residents while females only constituted 25%. From 1930 onwards however growth slowed somewhat as entry level jobs dried up or shifted away due various factors such as oil depletion & global war intervened: industry shifted towards TXDOT projects while wages stagnated& electricity prices rose (& remains high even today), leading many people migrating inland either into San Antonio or El Paso while others left altogether for other cities nearer petroleum resources or cheaper costs outside metropolitan areas.. With 3rd generation descendants still living here today most likely contributing some aspect(s) - whether economic development or cultural heritage - thereto currently extant!
Azle was founded in 1881 by John H. Azle, who had donated the land to the town. The first post office was established in 1882, and the first store opened in 1885. The cotton gin was built in 1886, and the first sawmill was built in 1888. In 1907, azle became a city.
